I'm in recovery from a bout of actual Covid and it absolutely sucked less than any of the vaxx side effects (I will be getting my next booster ASAP, because duh.)

It's Saturday night, there are four cats in the house, and not one of them is sitting on my lap.

This is an outrage.

I have a new coworker. She is also recently divorced and also has a 6yo. We are from wildly different places. No one in the office gets us like we get each other. We are mutually arranging our work schedules to optimize time with our kids.

Someone needs to write a buddy not!cop movie about us.

Well here's my Friday night set.

Highlight of the day: Someone at work wearing a t-shirt from the accounting program: "CATCH FRAUD, NOT FEELINGS."

Almost-6: Bolts upright in bed.
A6: Points at the cat at the end of the bed. Wails. "What is THAT??"
Me: "That's Pyxis. You know Pyxis."
A6: "But what does it DO??"
Me: "Uhh ... he's a cat."
A6: "Is he real or pretend??"
Me: "He's real."
A6: "I DON'T LIKE IT."

So my cat has been eaten by a mimic.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: If 2023 would just take a nap I, for one, would appreciate it.

I would like to than 2023 for holding off on breaking the internet and the A/C until the week *after* my major deadline. Seriously. I know I break when I see one.

BOOK IS IN UNDER THE WIRE. Like, two hours left on the clock, my trusty conversion program decided to glitch, under the wire. I am EXHAUSTED and triumphant and will be absolutely bored by tomorrow. @racheline.bsky.social and I have already started in on our next obsession, too.

There is very little as aggravating about writing contemporary novels than the absolute HEADACHE that is making Plot navigate around the major winter holidays that are all like five minutes apart.

Self-care is vital and I do my best to put on my own oxygen mask first but y'all, you can do all that and still have the world be a goddamn Lot.

I am so on the verge of burning out but what needs to get done must get done so I'm writing fic just for my cowriter while also working on edits for our book and yelling at 2/4 cats to stop fighting each other.

Things going on in my life that are stressing me out, in no particular order: 1) I'm getting divorced 2) My brother has cancer 3) A dear friend had a baby 10 weeks early 4) I have a book deadline in two weeks 5) I also have a dayjob 6) Oh and a 5yo. Could 2023 just take a goddamned nap already?

Boss just renamed our team's slack channel as "Professor Erin's Coffee and Queers Campaign" based off something I said last week and y'all. If you're a boss. Be like my boss.
