07.08.2025 15:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm getting married next week, so thought I'd share a fun story: how to get a marriage license at SF City Hall!
With hundreds of couples getting marriage licenses every day in San Francisco, our County Clerk Diane Rea has set up a process that takes just 5 steps in under 15 minutes.
Thank you @deanobeidallah.bsky.social for having me on the show!
06.08.2025 22:30 β π 20 π 2 π¬ 2 π 0Thank you to Captains Sullivan, McCormick, and Wilhelm for hosting the community and providing a day for kids across District 5 to remember!
06.08.2025 16:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yesterday I joined National Night Out, connecting community with public safety members across San Francisco.
In District 5, we visited celebrations in the Tenderloin, Western Addition, and Panhandle, connecting with the captains and officers of Tenderloin, Northern, and Park police stations.
TLCBD will manage the big belly trash cans for the next year until a permanent city can program is in place.
Thank you Department of Public Works for finding a path forward, and ensuring our streets can continue to remain clean for all.
The Tenderloin deserves clean streets, just like every other neighborhood.
Over the last week we've been talking to community and city departments, and as of today $100k will be reallocated back to the TLCBD to continue to manage the big belly trash bins.
District 5 is thriving.
60,000 person crowds to celebrate the Grateful Dead's 60th anniversary.
Hotel demand was up 65%.
Haight Ashbury merchants: "This is definitely the biggest weekend for us of the year.β
District 5 residents will be prioritized β donβt miss your chance!

Applications for our Fall 2025 District 5 Internship Program are closing soon. If you're passionate about public service, curious about how local government works, and ready to make a difference β this is for you.
So much fun reading for the kids of Booker T this morning!
We read the Fantastic Bureau of Imagination - an inspiring story about how one can pursue their passion and their work at the same time.
We also dove into questions about the work of a Supervisor, and of course, my favorite food spots!
Congratulations to the Tenderloin Museum on their groundbreaking ceremony for the upcoming expansion!
The Museum helps us remember our city's history to make progress towards its future. Thank you Tenderloin Museum for providing that guiding light.
It was a brand new day in the Tenderloin as we unveiled the first Hearts in SF artwork in the neighborhood
And no better place to have it than at Glide
This is a symbol that the Tenderloin deserves the same love as the rest of our city. And working with community is how we're going to get it done.
The legislation will go to a final vote in September, and then be passed into law.

Thank you to the broad coalition of support that made this legislation possible - across labor, business, community, and the Democratic Party. And thank you to Supervisors Walton, Sauter, Dorsey, and Melgar for their early cosponsorship.
30.07.2025 14:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Because geographic equity isnβt a zero-sum game.
When each part of the city contributes, the entire city becomes stronger, more resilient, and more just.
The over-concentration of shelter and services in 8 neighborhoods that have more shelter than need, will now end. And the revitalization of the Tenderloin can now begin.
This legislation doesn't divide neighborhoods, but instead draws a circle that brings every neighborhood in.
Starting in 2026, budget for future shelter must be prioritized in those 30+ neighborhoods where shelter supply is less than unsheltered demand.
In turn, we also turn a new page in the history of the Tenderloin.
The One City Shelter Act has passed the San Francisco Board of Supervisors with a supermajority vote, at it's first reading.
Through this Act, we bring forward a first-of-its-kind and evidence-based framework to address our homelessness crisis.
Today we honored Dion Lim at City Hall with an official commendation in recognition of her wrapping up a remarkable chapter of her career at ABC7.
Dion, thank you for your fearless journalism, your authenticity, and your unwavering dedication to amplifying the stories that need to be heard.
And I have introduced several resolutions as the first of their kind - championing neurodivergent, south asian, and muslim communities. All have had a support of a majority of my colleagues.
And we're just getting started.

In the past 6 months, I have introduced legislation on shared housing reform to shelter equity, data procurement streamlining to drug market interventions. I have introduced hearings on food insecurity in the Fillmore and civil rights violations in the Tenderloin.
29.07.2025 14:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Since taking office, I have operated on 3 principles: legislating through evidence, governing through collaboration, and championing our most vulnerable communities
I am proud to be leading in introduction of legislation amongst the new cohort of Supes, & equally proud to be collaborating with them
In the interim, our office is working with OEWD to provide short-term relief. Storefronts that have been vandalized can apply for city funding to cover repairs - please email us at mahmoodstaff@sfgov.org and we can help you through the process.
29.07.2025 02:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We are in discussion with the Mayor's office and the Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD) on how to address these concerns, and are working collaboratively to create both short and longterm solutions to the public safety challenges affecting our commercial corridors.
29.07.2025 02:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I visited Minnie Bell's today on Fillmore after a break-in occurred over the weekend.
We have been hearing of increased reports of incidents on Fillmore, and share the small business's concerns.
Today, Walk SF, Supervisor @bilalmahmood.bsky.social, neighbors, community groups, & advocates celebrated a major win for safer intersections: the start of @sfmta.com painting daylighting in District 5! βοΈ
β‘οΈ Do you π safe intersections? Learn more about our campaign at walksf.org/safeintersections.
This was made possible from funds we authorized from the @sfcta to the @SFMTA_Muni, and shows we can still make progress on our vision zero goals.

This puts us in compliance with state law that requires 20 ft of no parking near intersections, to increase visibility of pedestrians crossing. It has resulted in 14% reduction in traffic collisions in the Tenderloin, and it's time now for the whole district to benefit.
