Yeah, one of our bands had to drop out! Stinking Strep Throat season, ya know? Panel 2 DITTO, BUT CLOSER SHOT OF BARNEBUS Barnebus muses a bit as he chats with the two. BARNEBUS OLICH, THAT BITES! SO WHAT, YOU TWO CAN'T FIND A REPLACMENT BAND? I MEAN, COULDN'T BE TOO HARD, RIGHT? CUSTOMER 2 OH, IT IS! EVERYONE IN OUR ROSTER OF BANDS HAPPEN TO HAVE GIGS ELSEWHERE, AND IT'S A PAIN IN THE ASS TO FIND NEW TALENT AROUND HERE BARNEBUS Well… you two are in luck! Panel 3 CLOSE UP OF BARNEBUS Barnebus goes on to offer his band a chance to land their first gig. BARNEBUS I just happen to be a part of a band, and I think we could be a perfect last-minute replacement! Panel 4 SHOT OF BARNEBUS, AND CUSTOMERS The two customers look at each other blankly as Barnebus looks super proud of himself, his eyes closed and arms crossed.

i left that movie with the conclusion that both Ghibli and Miyazaki will have an end and that's okay, I don't like the general thought that Miyazaki hates his son's work (and him too) and I felt that this movie was a way to tell him that he shouldn't be burdened with mantaining his "legacy".

The longer you’re in comics, your aspirations change from “I’d like to work with that publisher some day” to “I refuse to ever work with that publisher again” lol

Panel 1 INT. EL SLEEZO’S DISCOUNT RECORDS – MID MORNING –ABOVE SHOT OF AL AND BARNEBUS Barnebus looks tired on his first day of work, as if he isn’t used to waking up at around 9:00 or so. Al begins to list off his duties and tasks as Barnebus is seen struggling to keep himself awake. AL Since it’s your first day, I’ll be starting you off with cleaning and sorting the used records. BARNEBUS Mmmm... Panel 2 CLOSE SHOT OF VELVET BRUSH, MICROFIBER BRUSH AND CLEANING SPRAY Al starts out with record cleaning 101, showing him the tools, he’ll be using, with the Velvet Brush, microfiber brush, and cleaning spray laid out in that specific order. AL (OP) CAPTION spray Panel 3 Now I don’t know if your parents have ever taught you how to clean these, but in case they haven’t, it’s pretty simple. You’ll be using these. Velvet brush, microfiber brush and cleaning CLOSE UP OF AL Al then begins laying down the record cleaning procedure. Grabbing onto the Microfibre brush, he starts dusting off a random record to demonstrate. AL So first thing’s first, take your microfiber here, and start brushing the dust and static out in a circular fashion, just like how I’m demonstrating. Next you- BARNEBUS (OP) Zzz... Panel 4 SHOT OF BARNEBUS AND AL Al then notices Barnebus is fast asleep, sighing in an annoyed fashion. BARNEBUS Zzz... AL Sheesh… Panel 5-9 CLOSE UP ON AL Al then proceeds to get out a copy of Curtis Mayfield’s debut album, flip it onto Side B, place it onto an LP Player connected to the store’s speakers, and presses play. Panel 10 SHOT OF BARNEBUS AND AL The loud horn part of “Move On Up” quickly wakens Barnebus up to a startle, Al chuckling a bit. BARNEBUS GAH! MOTHER OF SHIT

A nice panel grid—easily stuff due to its aggressively “fixed” nature—is bounded through demonically, stretching out an inevitable horror

A horizontal pagewide pane at both the top and bottom of the page show Peter and Mary jane’s reactions to the circumstances, while between them, in the middle layer of the page, three vertical panels showing Harry’s choice to stay unbalanced are weighted as a progression down by connecting through colour the top of the left one with the upper panel, and the bottom of the right with the lower panel, though the panels themselves are rendered level

Sal Buscema was a splendid character artist who (vitally; unexpectedly) found a swingin figure energy for spider-man in the 90s—bringing the rhythm back, to make a whole other domestic setup feel foundational—but it wasn’t just that—he was also such a fine panelsman. Snap ur fingers:
