So weird how it keeps being young women and Māori that Gerry Brownlee kicks out and docks pay of. What’s that all about?

Cartoon. Title: β€œThe Ten Bucks Stops Here”. Image shows PM Christopher Luxon opening a wallet, and a $10 note pops out of the wallet with β€œThe People’s Select Committee” written on it. Kate Sheppard on a $10 note points at Luxon’s forehead and says β€œWhat. Were. You. All. Thinking?”

Chloe was right, was right to say it and was right not to apologize

There are multiple government MPs who are saying privately they know the govt position is deeply wrong but are putting *themselves* first when it comes to the greatest atrocity of the modern age. That's FAR more than just spineless

Quick video for the 'we saved too many lives, spent too much $, sent inflation to the moon, made interest rates go up, and now we have to pay for our sins 😒' crowd.
The idea that NZ could have 'opted out' of global inflation surge is daft. Almost as daft as NZ opting almost uniquely for a recession.

"I don't care what you say about whether it [bootcamps] does or doesn't work. We can have that intellectual conversation all day long, but we are, dammit, going to try something different because we cannot carry on getting the results that we've been getting.” - Luxon in 2024

'Act of racism': Education Ministry cans children's school book for too many Māori words "Our members see this move as an act of white supremacy. It's an act of racism," says Te Akatea, the Māori Principals' Association.

If your "structured literacy approach" with its "phonics sequencing and decoding suitability" cannot accommodate a handful of commonly-used words of te reo Māori YOUR APPROACH IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE. www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...

In today's podcast I discuss these astonishingly grim tax debt figures.

In short the amount of outstanding GST & PAYE has risen 15-FOLD from $95.4million as of 31st March 2020 to $1,471.6million as of 31st March 2025. Outstanding retail trade debt is up 19-fold, construction 14-fold. 😬

Seriously awful Treasury Inshites Briefing still quoting dodgy IMF covid report from 2021, which added up planned spending (not actual) and included all manner of random stuff. NZ actual spend was middle of the pack in OECD. But, that doesn't suit the narrative. Oh, and where is that debt blow out?

And in this case he's just adhering to the orthodox ACT party line from 2004
