Added a hover ability. Hold jump to slow your fall, can release and re press multiple times in air. Also added true back and fore grounds with parallax scrolling. It really adds life to the level imo. Shoutout to DKC Oil Drum Alley which inspired this level theme.

Added camera lag when dashing. Gives a stronger feeling of speed when you "outrun" the cam. Subtle effect, but adds to game feel. May tweak the numbers, but I am happy with it. Also added a simple light effect to background lights and foreground poles (that will parallax scroll later)

Added a dash ability. There is a lagging camera technique I want to implement to make the speed boost more visually impactful. May also add switches that need to be dashed to trigger.

Like many folks, I cut my teeth as a game designer from making romhacks. A year ago, Retro Achievements held a design contest for SMW. My level was added to a compilation and now they have created achievements for this compilation hack. My Level is "Lumber Leap."

Rolling Rocks. I made 2 variants. One that bounces forever on its own that you can ride. And one that is at rest and can be pushed to be moved into position or activate switch or roll over enemies. Shoutout to Super Mario Land 3-1. Also look, a scrolling camera.

13.11.2025 19:48 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Added 4 way trampoline block. Jump higher when jumping off. Get pushed downwards if bonking. Get knocked back if running into. Will probably use a different graphic, but at least it animates nicely. Also may have a variant that auto pops you up.
Also added some foreground tiles.

I added conveyor belts! Inspired by the conveyor platforms of SMB2 and 3. Always a fun obstacle to deal with in a game. Ideally, enemies and objects will also be affected. Also, switches that affect their direction and speed are in the works. Hope you enjoy.

Added a new ability. Butt Stomp! I think I want to add butt stomp only enemies and sections where you need to fall fast and you need to stomp to get vertical speed. Debating if I want to allow cancelling of stomp mid fall.
