Dem Sen. Fetterman voted in favor. Senators Gallego, Schmitt, and Wicker did not vote.

Mike Johnson desperately wants people to blame the end of SNAP benefits on the Democrats, but given the GOP's longstanding attacks on the program -- coupled with Trump's expensive White House: Extreme Makeover extravaganza -- that's going to be a hard sell.

Not to mention the White House literally holding SNAP funding hostage, which they didn’t do in previous shutdowns.

Warner Blasts Trump Administration for Holding Partisan National Security Briefing Oct 29 2025 WASHINGTON – Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chairman Mark R. Warner (D-VA) issued the following statement blasting the Trump administration for holding a partisan military briefing and withholding legally requested information from Democratic senators: “Shutting Democrats out of a briefing on U.S. military strikes and withholding the legal justification for those strikes from half the Senate is indefensible and dangerous. Decisions about the use of American military force are not campaign strategy sessions, and they are not the private property of one political party. For any administration to treat them that way erodes our national security and flies in the face of Congress’ constitutional obligation to oversee matters of war and peace. “This partisan stunt is a slap in the face to Congress’ war powers responsibilities and to the men and women who serve this country. It also sets a reckless and deeply troubling precedent. The administration must immediately provide to Democrats the same briefing and the OLC opinion justifying these strikes, as Secretary Rubio personally promised me that he would in a face-to-face meeting on Capitol Hill just last week. Americans deserve a government that fulfills its constitutional duties and treats decisions about the use of military force with the seriousness they demand.” ###

This is OUTRAGEOUS. The administration finally briefed senators on the boat attacks, but they EXCLUDED THE DEMOCRATS.

The Supreme Court’s order, issued for the full court, did not rule on the Justice Department’s October 17 requests for an “immediate” administrative stay or for a stay pending appeal of U.S. District Judge April Perry’s temporary restraining order blocking deployment of National Guard troops in Illinois. Instead, the court called for additional briefing about the meaning of two words — “regular forces” — in the law Trump is relying upon to federalize and deploy the National Guard. While that legal issue gets complicated, the big news here is that the court has essentially said that it is not planning to issue an order responding to DOJ’s “emergency” request for at least a full month after DOJ filed the request. Although it is not a ruling, it is, by implication, a pretty clear statement that there is not a majority of the court ready and willing to side with Trump on this issue at this time. First, the court has not granted DOJ the “immediate” administrative stay of the TRO that it sought. Although the court has not, technically, denied the request, it’s not going to happen. Further, it took more than a week since the matter was fully briefed on October 21 to get Wednesday’s order — seeking more briefing. And, when the court did so, it set a relatively relaxed timeline, ordering supplemental briefing by November 10, with time for replies by November 17.

And, I'm much more comfortable saying all of this today than on Monday even.

This is yet another example of Trump’s DOJ targeting political opponents and activists while protecting his allies. What’s happening isn’t law enforcement, it’s political retaliation designed to silence dissent and criminalize those who stand up to his administration’s cruelty.

The Trump administration continues to weaponize the Department of Justice against its perceived enemies, this time targeting Democratic congressional candidate Kat Abughazaleh and several other protesters in Illinois.

What legal recourse does one have? Can we fire the people's servants elected by us, before we hit elections? Genuine question about how we can do this. No one gets to commit bloody murder in our name and get away with it.

Shutting Democrats out of a national security briefing and withholding the legal justification of the Venezuelan boat strikes from half the Senate is indefensible. This White House is eroding our national security.
