kermit the frog is wearing a black hoodie and kermit the frog is wearing a black hood . Alt: kermit the frog is wearing a black hood telling another non-hooded Kermit β€œdo it” β€” homage to a Star Wars scene where Palpatine tells Luke the same thing

If it completes a collection that’s not just double the payoff it’s more like like a … 10x dopamine powerup

Strategic taxonomy is a tool for civic clarity and public trust.

This first-timer's tale shows how deep listening and user journeys transformed TCEQ's jargon-heavy website into accessible, task-based IA.

Good thread on this topic but also I’d add: in a newspaper there’s a physical difference between op-ed vs news sections w/ author name prominent.
On websites the boundary gets fuzzier. But in tweets/posts, it’s the newspaper account posting the tease/headline…context collapse is messy.

Plenty of people in power believe in trans rights and pursue use of their power to protect them yet are not offered NYT op-ed space to make the case for that opinion as often as anti-trans people are offered the same space. So what's going on there?

News outlets do not only publish op-eds like this. They frequently publish op-eds that are outside the mainstream set of opinions in an attempt to shift the Overton window of acceptable policy in one direction or another. Easy to demonstrate on e.g. NYT push for anti-trans stuff

Israel & Saudi Arabia pushed the U.S. to attack Iran.

Netanyahu killed 72,000 people in Gaza, mostly women & children.

Saudi Arabia is a brutal dictatorship that allows no opposition.

These are the leaders who want to bring β€œfreedom” to Iran?

Does anyone really believe that?

"AI layoffs" like Block's are a race to the bottom that have nothing to do with productivity. You won't be replaced by AI, nor a person using AI, because backfills aren't real.

Jack Dorsey is copying the 2023 leadership framework:
- overhire
- lay everyone off
- pretend it's because of AI productivity gains
- stock go up

The layoff victims were some of the most productive, AI-pilled people in the company, but it didn't save them, because that's not what it was about.

Nancy Mace is profoundly ignorant. I mean, profoundly. Ilhan Omar is Somali-American, Rashida Tlaib Palestinian-American. They're both Sunnis, iow. Why would they care about a Shiite ayatolla's death--except that Trump and Netanyahu murdered him, I mean?

I attended an AI symposium in SF around that time; Facebook’s plans were a big focus. I left me feeling disoriented as to exactly what value they would provide.
But there’s something baked into our culture that makes β€œAI” seem inherently valuable, an inevitable improvement.

A regime that kills its own people can be justifiably hated and its fall greeted with deep relief, while understanding that its fall being externally determined in a way that violates international law will pave the way for further human rights violations.

Both things can be and are true.

Chick was one of many: Left Behind went mainstreamish but there’s a whole industry of β€œend times stories” that blew up in the late 80s and 90s, putting flesh on the bones of an idiosyncratic theological hot take from the late 1800s.

It’s not a script they follow, but it is a lens they look through.

If you grew up evangelical / fundamentalist / charismatic / etc in that era, you were absolutely *immersed* in stories about the Final War To End All Wars and how it would pit good against evil and conclude in a final righting of wrongs and revealing of truths. The β€œRevelation” was literal.

At around 12-13 years old I fell hard for this stuff … but it didn’t take much maturing & education to outgrow it.

Evidently outgrowing it isn’t a thing for a lot of other adults.

As Kids These Daysβ„’ rediscover CDs, a good project would be a CD liner notes archive. High resolution pictures and descriptions & transcriptions of album art, lyrics, thanks, track personnel, all of it. Get living artists to comment on their choices and process. Think it'd be kind of dope.

And the word β€œbloodlust” isn’t hyperbole … Trump has talked for many years about the ways he loves violence done in his name. And he has attracted a whole culture of people who also fetishize cruel violence.
