I am not abandoning people because weakass candidates say supporting them costs votes.
Fuck that noise.
A reminder that the second lady, Usha Vance, clerked for John Roberts in 2018 in the Azar v. Garza case--where Usha helped argue that immigrant children don't have a right to abortions

Not hyperbole.
This admin really did pull together the worst of the worst β because they all had a decade to clock Trump for what he is, discovering in him a vehicle & benefactor for finally getting to indulge & wallow in their worst behaviors without apology or hindrance
These are sick, weird, twisted people. All of them.

HOLY SHIT
I just learned that in the USA the average cost of having a child is approximately $320,000 to over $350,000 through age 17
I took out $90k in student loans & paid out $220,000
I did not have a kid
DO THE FUCKING MATH

Then the media frames this intentional vote suppression as "voter confusion," blaming Black voters for the problem?π€‘
All of this after Crockett, who won her congressional election, was gerrymandered out of her district, by people looking to eliminate Black political influence?π€‘
1 in 3 voters in Jasmine Crockett's home county of Dallas turn up to vote, and are turned away?π€‘
Then the news talks about the issue in Dallas (pop 2.7M) and Williamson (pop 800K) as if they are the same?π€‘
And they extend voting hours in both places, knowing that poor people are impacted more.π€‘
my guy you have literally just explained why this is a serial animal abuser who has now moved on to humans exactly like the literature warns

You'd think a fucking Dem, ANY Dem would learn to publicly beat the shit out of Republicans every single day with this.
But all their friends took the AI money too, so...might as well just form AI-AIPAC.
Boomers never let go.
In every institutional space I know, not only have Boomers failed to groom successors, they have actively blocked them β¦ while moaning about the next generation failing to step up.
The only exception I know is the political right.
I said this a while ago but it bears repeating:
The U.S. right is fully captured by a) christian fascist accelerationists seeking to start the Biblical Apocalypse, & b) those actively manipulating (a) for profit.
Everything they claim to care about will last only so long as it serves (a) or (b).
These repeated attempts to "communicate" with AI left me feeling adrift from my own language. I thought of the opposite of poetry. Poetry sets you adrift from language in service of connection to meaning and other people; this is how it recreates language. This set me adrift in service of nothing.
02.03.2026 22:07 β π 165 π 34 π¬ 8 π 4The hallucination alone is a dealbreaker, obviously. But I was much more disturbed by the effect it had on my own sense of communication. Words are for connection. If you continually threw a rope into the darkness and no one caught it, you'd begin to think there was something wrong with the rope.

A few hours in, I had a hard time figuring out what the next steps were, and I literally do this (helping people, including myself, figure out what the next steps in writing are) for a living.
Strangely, it feels like the experience unmoored me from my own writing.
It returned something very recognizably AI--extreme and extremely confident declarations, evidence that doesn't support the conclusion, a bizarre sequence to the paragraphs whose logic I could not discern. I pointed out these problems and asked it to try again.
02.03.2026 21:52 β π 68 π 3 π¬ 1 π 0First, I gave it a vignette I wrote for the test, some extra notes, and "teacher feedback" for revision. It returned something tonally bizarre, veering wildly between the tone of the feedback (brisk) and of the vignette (vivid, descriptive). It also hallucinated twice after being told not to.
02.03.2026 21:50 β π 69 π 4 π¬ 2 π 0As part of an AI committee at my university, I spent this weekend trying out Claude (Opus 4.6) for writing, and I have to say, far beyond its hallucinations and the usual complaints, it is a baffling experience cognitively. I want to be more precise in my evaluation here than I usually am about AI.
02.03.2026 21:50 β π 206 π 69 π¬ 7 π 21LLMs are Frankensteins of compression, noise reduction and translation technologies. A good way to think of it is, if you try to write something from nothing, the βnothingβ that fills the gaps is (more or less) semi-random noise translated into human language with your prompt as the cipher.

Watched Prometheus (2012) last nightβ¦was more enjoyable than I remembered; even if it had no other merits, the production design is enough to keep me engaged. Just gorgeously filmed retro-futurist eye candy all around.

03.03.2026 10:00 β π 106 π 19 π¬ 2 π 4The horror here is not merely that it will happen, but that when it does, it will be claimed that it was no one's fault because an algorithm did it. That's (at least partly) why the military is racing to adopt "AI": it allows for a new era of extreme plausible deniability.
