I’ve been trying to find where to see it

I attended an AI symposium in SF around that time; Facebook’s plans were a big focus. I left me feeling disoriented as to exactly what value they would provide.
But there’s something baked into our culture that makes “AI” seem inherently valuable, an inevitable improvement.

A regime that kills its own people can be justifiably hated and its fall greeted with deep relief, while understanding that its fall being externally determined in a way that violates international law will pave the way for further human rights violations.

Both things can be and are true.

Chick was one of many: Left Behind went mainstreamish but there’s a whole industry of “end times stories” that blew up in the late 80s and 90s, putting flesh on the bones of an idiosyncratic theological hot take from the late 1800s.

It’s not a script they follow, but it is a lens they look through.

If you grew up evangelical / fundamentalist / charismatic / etc in that era, you were absolutely *immersed* in stories about the Final War To End All Wars and how it would pit good against evil and conclude in a final righting of wrongs and revealing of truths. The “Revelation” was literal.

At around 12-13 years old I fell hard for this stuff … but it didn’t take much maturing & education to outgrow it.

Evidently outgrowing it isn’t a thing for a lot of other adults.

Once more begging folk looking at a 9% drop in <whatever> in February compared to January — please remember how many days there are in the month.

As Kids These Days™ rediscover CDs, a good project would be a CD liner notes archive. High resolution pictures and descriptions & transcriptions of album art, lyrics, thanks, track personnel, all of it. Get living artists to comment on their choices and process. Think it'd be kind of dope.

And the word “bloodlust” isn’t hyperbole … Trump has talked for many years about the ways he loves violence done in his name. And he has attracted a whole culture of people who also fetishize cruel violence.

There’s even a “head wound” involved!

There are a lot more conservative people in Hollywood than you’d think. Hollywood itself is a pretty conservative business, even if it doesn’t seem to be. A lot of actors and writers are leftist or liberal, but that’s not true of the people handling the money and business.

I worry there won’t be resolve enough to actually fix things just back to where they were, not even to mention how things should fixed way beyond the old normal.

Normies & centrists will perceive massive changes as vendettas or “just as bad as maga.”

But we need a reckoning & rightening.

He’s always been best as a comedic actor.
Even in his iconic action roles, it was his way of showing vulnerability & wit that carried them.

Joe was married to Lorina for 56 years. If you think comic book artists haven't gotten due recognition, Joe Liptak really needs more attention. He did most of the Disney sculpts and many Hanna Barbera ones for View-Master.

Joe Liptak (Joseph Albert Liptak 1923-2014), a WWII pilot, worked for View-Master for over 40 years doing sculpts. Makes you wonfer what a stop motion Huck Hound special would've been like.

I continue to be fascinated by the phenomenon whereby an expert engages with any of the LLMs on their field of expertise and is instantly horrified by the wrong answers, and then goes on to use it for things they are not experts in as though it won’t be just as bad for those.
