I read the whole story. I’ve also worked at the city and I’ve also run a small nonprofit. The machinery of city public service doesn’t just evaporate b/c the mayor changes. Making hard decisions that affect people’s lives daily is a skill regardless of one’s org budget. It was dismissive as hell.

I’m behind on local politics because I’m north of Boston visiting my Sisters-in-law, who just had a baby, and am hoping that my kids can tire the heck out of their older kid. We went to a kind of fancy brewery overrun with kids that Seattle WOULD NEVER. The kids ran around and no one batted an eye.

I thought this was originally a clickbait-y blurb written by some social media person at the Times, but was incredibly disappointed to find it was in the article written by David Kroman. Not cool. She shrugged off WHAT now? And whose “idea” was it that we’re talking about in such a passive voice?
