List of Americaโ€™s Safest Cities for Cyclists Proves Safety has Nothing to do with Luck The safest cities for cyclists earned the lowest fatality scores and highest infrastructure ratings among nearly 300 U.S. cities analyzed.

Change is happening, one protected lane, one policy, and one safer intersection at a time. And for once, the data is on our side.

Hey CNN why are the gas prices on this photo so low? Ohhhh. I see. You're hoping no one notices this photo is from before the internet fucking existed. You shitheads.

These programs weren't set up this way simply for the benefit of recipients. They are by design also a subsidy for American agriculture. That's the longstanding red-blue, rural-urban political deal of it. Like how they're getting nuked by the trade war, they are cannibalizing their own coalition.

I see this too often trying to cross 3rd Ave NW at the Greenway on NW 92nd. Itโ€™s fucking terrifying.

Yet sheโ€™s not allowed to identify with lower classes because her parents are well-off elites. Somehow sheโ€™s both too rich and not rich enough. Yet somehow Bruceโ€™s background and connections are above reproach? Like I donโ€™t care where you came up if you seem to have FORGOTTEN what itโ€™s like.

The Seattle stouts have gotten worse-tasting too. I like it rich and caramel-y. I thought it might be me, but having a good one last night showed me that is not the case.

Yes! Like reading the article youโ€™d think they were talking about a much younger person. Like the dig about where she lived vs. Harrell. Like, canโ€™t that just be a lifestyle choice instead of an allusion to being โ€œmore established?โ€

Yeah! My SIL is really into breweries and said when they opened the first one somewhere in Western MA people were driving over there from Boston and the lines were looooong. I had the Relentless Optimism milk stout and it was absolutely delicious, so Iโ€™d say well deserved.

Husband and I were just talking about how, as elder millennials, we missed a bunch of cultural touchstones that were important to folks just a little bit younger than us, like Pokรฉmon and SpongeBob SquarePants.

There have been multiple digs in the last week or so--interesting that coordination hmm--at @seattletru.bsky.social's annual revenue hovering around $200k/year as a reason why @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social isn't "qualified" to be Mayor.

If she pulled all this off with $200k, imagine her with $1.9b.

Mr. Experienced With a Big Budget Bruce Harrell, everyone. The thing about running a small nonprofit is that you could never just waffle about making a decision that costs the org money for over a year.

06.10.2025 13:23 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 23    ๐Ÿ” 5    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I also question the use of so much passive voice in the article. If someone is saying she should have run for council instead, that she doesnโ€™t have the experience, who is saying that? Who exactly is pushing this narrative? Attribute this stuff to real people! Only some is attributed to Harrell.

I read the whole story. Iโ€™ve also worked at the city and Iโ€™ve also run a small nonprofit. The machinery of city public service doesnโ€™t just evaporate b/c the mayor changes. Making hard decisions that affect peopleโ€™s lives daily is a skill regardless of oneโ€™s org budget. It was dismissive as hell.

Yes this too. Had she been a dude from like an Amazon leadership position we wouldnโ€™t have heard this shit. But leader of an effective activism group? Thatโ€™s not experience, apparently.

Yup. I like looking at houses on the real estate sites habitually as a dreamy distraction. My limit is set at $1 million, and seeing a lot more in-city houses just under that than I used to see.

Tree House Brewing Company Tree House Brewing Company, brewers of Julius and pioneers of hazy IPA, produces world-renowned beer in Charlton, Massachusetts. It also has locations in Deerfield, Sandwich, Tewksbury, Woodstock, Con...

Also I highly recommend this place. I was skeptical because it was at a golf course, but the beer was top notch. There were like at least 5 stouts on tap my friends. treehousebrew.com

Iโ€™m behind on local politics because Iโ€™m north of Boston visiting my Sisters-in-law, who just had a baby, and am hoping that my kids can tire the heck out of their older kid. We went to a kind of fancy brewery overrun with kids that Seattle WOULD NEVER. The kids ran around and no one batted an eye.

Sheโ€™s 43. Iโ€™m 43. It would be really nice if the patriarchy stopped treating women my age like little inexperienced girls who shouldnโ€™t worry their pretty little heads about things like this. I doubt weโ€™d be saying this shit if she were a man.

Text from article that reads: โ€œThe same could be said about her unlikely run for mayor. A policy-minded advocate for left-wing causes who for years trafficked in the sausage-making of local government, she shrugged off the notion that she might be better suited for a seat on the City Council one day, instead aiming for the more managerial and tone-setting office on City Hallโ€™s top floor.โ€

I thought this was originally a clickbait-y blurb written by some social media person at the Times, but was incredibly disappointed to find it was in the article written by David Kroman. Not cool. She shrugged off WHAT now? And whose โ€œideaโ€ was it that weโ€™re talking about in such a passive voice?
