Message from me to my partner on Saturday with unrelated thoughts of telling him about my hair cut and then sending a photo of the caiman lizard. He makes the obvious joke saying it's a weird hair cut, to which I correct him that it's called style and he apologizes.

Or a stylish haircut.

Too many of us shouldn't have had lizards when we were little kids. Not sure why my parents thought any of us knew enough to take care of water dragons, for example.

I was out yesterday with a few friends. They needed to go to a beauty supply store. I asked, "would it be okay if I walk down to the pet store to look at lizards?" One responded, "you don't actually need to ask, you can just tell us." Anyway the lizards were definitely worth the walk.

Hopefully I'll get another big paleoart illustration project like this one lined up. Feels good to be finished up with a big project though.

Painterly illustration of a brown Tyrannosaurus rex running to the viewer's left while looking right with mouth open in anticipation of a hunt or as a threat display. The background is mossy ground covered in ferns with trees in the background and fallen logs. The sky is blue and the light is bright and warm. Illustration's composition is inspired by an unused thumbnail sketch by Frederic Wierum for the same project.

Yeah I just don't know where to place my feelings considering nothing I do can actually change the result. It's been a rough few years with family related drama, even though I've not been back home in that long.

Yeah but I got bad news within my family so it makes the micro and macro bad feel like it's stacking.

Blurry phone photo of my CRT television screen while watching the movie last night on DVD playing through my PS3. The Driller Killer was one of my first crushes as a kid in the 90s. My parents let me rent whatever I wanted from the video store.

Inspired by an unused thumbnail sketch drawn by Frederic Wierum for the same project. A brown Triceratops stands in dappled forest light having a standoff with a cimolopterygid bird that resembles an oxpecker perched atop a tree stump, as two are already on its back.

A small rocky stream flowing down from the mountains at sunset and bordered by forest with various animals staring one another down. On the left is an Ankylosaurus noticing and being noticed by a Borealosuchus half submerged in the water below a small cascade. On the fight is a herd of Triceratops of mixed ages approaching the stream noticing and being noticed by a Tyrannosaurus family on the other bank. Each group has two adults and a juvenile. The juvenile Tyrannosaurus is based primarily on the proportions of juvenile Tarbosaurus to avoid confusion with Nanotyrannus. There are various birds in the sky flying off both sides of the frame symbolizing that they will make it out of the Cretaceous as the last surviving lineage of dinosaurs.

Usually speedpaints are between 1-3 hours for me. This one Procreate says took me 2 hours but that's active time and not me staring at the tv between paint strokes.

Portrait of the Spinosaurus facing right somewhat angled, with rim lighting and an out of focus background. The skin flap at the back of the crest is speculative and based on a superficial resemblance of the bony crest to that of the helmeted basilisk.
