The South had 250,000 deaths, so your claim seems inaccurate. Unless you mean in one spot. Lee had 72,000 at Gettysburg, alone. Estimates are a little over a million fighting for the Confederacy, and 2 million for the North.

We went to the Antietam illumination again this year. Miles of Luminaries , one for each casualty in the battle. It’s quite sobering.
In daytime you can wander thru the battlefields and marvel at the bravery it took to enter those fields of fire, especially Burnsides bridge.
Well, I’m on this thing. I guess I’ll figure out eventually if it’s worth it.
