People speak of hope as if it is this delicate, ephemeral thing made of whispers and spiders webs. It's not. Hope has dirt on her face, blood on her knuckles, the grit of the cobblestones in her hair, and just spat out a tooth as she rises for another go.

I almost never turn on my camera. The only time I turn it on voluntarily is when I am interviewing people. Interviews are nerve-racking enough. I imagine interviewing sitting in front of a camera knowing the person can see you but you can’t see them is probably much worse.

I intentionally join Teams meetings a minute or so late so I don’t have to make awkward small talk while everyone else joins.

It is important that people understand and accept as fact that our government is compromised. I don't mean compromised in some cloak-and-dagger sense, I simply mean that this government no longer accepts core democratic principles and is angling toward an autocracy that's part of a New Axis of Evil.

I have covered presidential politics for 40 years. This was the most juvenile display by a President and Vice President I have ever seen. Other presidents treated their enemies with more respect. This is a low point and a dark day for the US. Totally embarrassing.
