I'd like to see the Lynx/Wolves remain in Mpls (privately funded), and no bad ideas in a brainstorm I guess, but ... this plan sure reeks of 21st-century urban renewal, sports-arena flavored

One of my favorite parent-hacks to stay politically active is finding free moments to jump on phone-banks (usually after my kids' bedtime...). Luckily there's lots of digital organizing opportunities and I'm pumped to join @katiecashman.bsky.social's final push! www.mobilize.us/katieforcoun...
12.10.2025 12:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We can keep building progressive momentum in Mpls and it's the final stretch! Just signed up for several shifts phonebanking / door-knocking for @sorenwithward8.bsky.social and you can too!

Crashes & near misses are a way of life. It doesn't have to be that way.
Let's organize to push the city to adopt a safe, sustainable, pro bike+walk redesign!

Are Stop Signs the Answer to Safer Streets?: https://streets.mn/2025/07/30/stop-signs-answer-to-safer-streets/
They reduce vehicle speeds, create safer streets, and they're cheap and easy to install. Why aren't we installing more stop signs?
Just one day left in our Summer Fund Drive! Make a gift by tomorrow night to have your donation matched 1:1 πΈ
P.S. Huge shoutout to all the folks who've already donated and gotten us over halfway to our goal. We appreciate you!

Yellow flexpost at the entrance of a two way curb protected on street bikeway (here to discourage drivers form driving in the bikelane).

Blaisdell has yellow flex posts at intersections!
I am VERY excited about this. Thank you @minneapolismn.gov !
I hope they survive the rest of the summer & can be replaced as needed ongoing. Iβll be curious to see driver behavior w/ these - hopefully decent compliance.
Hey everyone, counting down to the next Lyndale Community Bike Ride this Sunday, July 13!
07.07.2025 16:43 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I should also add that @sorenwithward8.bsky.social has a great fundraiser ride also happening July 13 that I strongly encourage folks to join!
Schedules = hard and I couldn't work around this conflict I'm afraid. But for those riding w/ Soren feel free to swing by BSP to say hi afterwards π
Call For Riders on July 13th, follow the link for text reader friendly instructions or reach out to the organizers at sorenwithward8@gmail.com
π΄ Mark your calendars: July 13th, we ride! Join Team Soren for a cycling fundraiser supporting our campaign & safer streets. Sign up for a 38-mile Grand Rounds bike ride (route and meet-up location TBA!) and help raise $250 to support our shared vision for Minneapolis. Sign up: bit.ly/4eksaAA
24.06.2025 22:16 β π 25 π 12 π¬ 1 π 4Mark your calendars (and spread the word!) for the next Lyndale Community Bike Ride on July 13! Meet at Lyndale Community School b/w 10:30-11, ride to Bryant Square Park.
24.06.2025 22:07 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 1 π 2The ride is still on! Updraft says air quality is likely to be "unhealthy for sensitive groups," so that's a caveat, but happy to ride with those who feel comfortable joining. I also plan to bring masks.
07.06.2025 21:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Kid-friendly bike ride this Sunday, June 8, 11:00 am! Lyndale Community School to MLK Park/Kingfield Farmers Market.
**In case of rain/air-quality problems, we'll postpone till July 13** With AQI/rain forecasts ever-changing, keep an eye out for an announcement closer to Sunday!
Come join us for a kid-friendly bike ride on June 8! Spread the word!
28.05.2025 21:56 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1I know there's city hesitation about where the eastern (new) 1-way terminus might be on 35th b/c of the presence of the school. My mental map makes me think they could pull it off at 3rd Street since the traffic flows WEST (away) from the school...a lot less conflict that way. But we'll see.
19.05.2025 21:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0For sure! We'll all need to push for significant traffic calming throughout the corridor, whatever the final overall designs are!
19.05.2025 21:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Above all, it seems really hard to me to justify having the multi-lane 1-way drag on and on and on all the way to Chicago, exposing Central N'hood to worst dangers of the 1-way format.
BUT...I am not a planner. Just a huge street design nerd, so I can always be swayed by new info and context :-)
I'm a huge proponent of 2-ways instead of multi-lane 1-ways (the data is really bad on multi-lane 1-ways), but in the case of this project the strongest leverage point may be advocating for shortening how long the 2-ways are. My hunch is E. terminus @ 3rd, convert to 2-way.
15.05.2025 22:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0= no room for greenery, stormwater treatment, curb lane, etc. etc.
15.05.2025 22:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The city's take on model at Housing Comm showed key challenge to 2-way in the (narrowest) 35th St. stretch (b/w Blaisdell & 3rd), which is that the necessity of a center turn lane to handle traffic flow (legit IMO) = 3 lanes which = worse for peds, and 3 lanes + AAA bike facility ...
15.05.2025 22:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The city has mocked up some 2-way options that i saw at a LNA Housing Committee mtg last week. Proj team also told me they're open to changing *terminus* of 1-way even if they can't convert whole thing to 2-way.
15.05.2025 22:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0As part of my organizing for safe streets on the City's 35th-36th reconstruction, I'm building out a pledge for neighbors/electeds/candidates to sign onto.
Anybody got any tips on how to take ideas and turn them into a signable/postable/shareable thing? Design + visuals = not my strength...
Spread the word!!
