I liked that they were all the same size which made well organized bookshelves much more efficient. When books are different sizes, the way not to waste a lot of space is put all the same sized books on the same shelf, which plays havoc with other forms of organization (by author, subject, etc.)

It has been many decades that people have been moving away from a hard after vs fantasy definition towards something like "speculative fiction" as a number of series we can all name straddled the boundary and there is a lot of overlap in the fandom. 1/2

Wait, someone is asking with a straight face, "Is science fiction dead?". Sure, it is being outstripped by fantasy in terms of quantity published. But fantasy is no less genre fiction.
