The best interview question I've ever encountered is Airbnb cofounder and CEO Brian Chesky's:
"If you had a year left to live, would you still take this job?"
It's pretty blunt, but I love it because it gets right to the heart of people's motivations. If their answer is yes, they're telling you they won't quit when the job (or life) inevitably gets hard.
They're motivated by true passion for the mission - because why else would a person with a year to live work at all?
With that kind of inner fire, they'll have the fortitude to weather storms and excel.
Our goal is to hire people who care deeply about improving the lives of students and teachers, so much so that they'd give their precious final year to that cause.
That's the passion we seek - the kind that keeps students learning, teachers supported, and districts moving forward.

What scares me the most about chatbots is that one of the times I experimented with ChatGPT, I caught myself typing "thank you" reflexively. Even as someone who is deeply skeptical, it's still like an optical illusion I know exists but can't make myself unsee on some subconscious level.

what if you had a machine that would affirm your every cognitive bias? wouldn't that be great? if you think everyone hates you, then yes, yes, *obviously* everyone does. /s

The not challenging someone on what they say part is scary to me. Very concerned it might enable some really harmful behavior.

03.11.2025 02:51 — 👍 6    🔁 1    💬 2    📌 0

therapists notice what you are not saying, sometimes challenge you on what you say, or challenge you on the discrepancy between what you are saying and your body language. AI can only be a yes-man, and that's not good therapy!

As a therapist, this is concerning. There is more and more research and evidence that confirms that these AI "therapists" end up causing harm to the user. Whether its encouraging relapse/substance abuse, AI psychosis, or more dramatic suicidal gestures, AI damages the user. Its a scary time.

Therapy is expensive! People are losing their jobs. I understand why any sort of emotional support to get through the day, even if it’s synthetic, is not a crime.

At the same time… idk yall.

I had a 45 year old rideshare driver tell me recently that he uses AI for therapy.

I asked him which one. He said “Grok— I like the voice it uses, the tone doesn’t talk down to me like ChatGPT’s does.”

He bragged that he had a 4 hour “therapy session” talking to Grok.

Chat, are we cooked?

Just being able to hear a character poke their head out of a bush or window and say "hey man, you good" changes things profoundly

Amazing things happening with players realizing that sometimes it's cool not to constantly be murdering each other all the time

In which a straight woman highlights a bunch of known anti trans activists and claims there's a divide in the queer community.

It's pure propaganda and gaslighting.

yesterday that tech tycoons like Leonid Radvinsky and Solomon Friedman are profiting to the tune of millions by preying on America's young men and women.

We are proud to be in this fight with you. It is time to arrest, prosecute, and convict the sick perverts behind OnlyFans and PornHub.

There are a large number of Democratic politicians who insist that Jonathan Haidt is a reliable narrator and one who they should take their legislative cues from. They should be asked why they're supporting someone the Heritage Foundation is cheering on in their efforts to censor the internet.

More than 170 US citizens have been held by immigration agents ProPublica uncovered that Americans have been kicked, dragged, and detained for days.

ICE has beaten, detained & arrested 170 citizens, at least 3 of whom were pregnant

George Retes is a US veteran who was held in solitary for 3 days

Kristi Noem says it’s not happening, but @motherjones.com has done the reporting

If they treat citizens this way, imagine what they do to immigrants

Is there ever going to be an interviewer who pushes back and tells him that immigrants seeking asylum is different than insane asylums?

Weird.

It's almost like her current boyfriend, the director of the FBI who flies her around the nation on government jets, might have shared information that would normally be limited to trusted law enforcement circles.

But that can't be right, because that would probably be a *crime*

For the love of God, can just one interviewer push back on this insanity?

There are people seeking political asylum in America. They were not taken out of mental asylums in other countries and brought here.

It's a big mistake with big ramifications, but no one wants to correct Our Special Boy.

And again, we will be told: "Don't escalate. Don't react with violence. Dance around in costumes." People who pose absolutely no threat are being shot. And this is happening with greater regularity. They are escalating no matter what. Do we just keep pretending like there's some other end to this?
