In June, for the first time ever, solar was the largest source of power in the EU.

I ran 23 km on the trails by Lake Superior today, but the wildfire smoke is so thick that you can’t see the lake. Didn’t stop me from having a nice post-run swim, though.

It was my 3rd fastest half-marathon this week.

Today the air quality index where I live is 168 due to drifting smoke from wildfires. I canceled my trail run. My kid is mad at me for not letting her attend soccer camp, but really, we should all be mad at our leaders. We need climate science and clean energy policies, not cuts.

I agree! But it’s hard to tell kids that want to both play outside and breathe:

“In 10-15 years, you might be able to vote for someone who will address this issue”

It’s devastating to tell kids: “You can’t play outside.”

“We really screwed up and made the air unsafe,” I tell them. Is it going to get worse their whole lives? Will we ever reverse #ClimateChange?

Solar just took the crown in Europe. In June 2025, it became the #1 power source in the EU for the first time—generating 22.1% of all electricity, beating nuclear.

Good question! None that I’ve ever done.
But many are easier than this one.

I made a new running snack today: Peanut Butter Pickle Wrap. Spread PB on a tortilla, add pickle spears, wrap it up.

It’s delicious, and a great way to carry pickles in a running vest

I’m back to ultramarathon training!

A foot injury made me shut things down for a week, but I got back in action over the long weekend:

55 km on hard trails with 1.4 km of elevation gain! It’s great to be running trails again.
