Happy Halloween, yappin' about rocks that I'll be passing out at Carolina Furfare. This is coal from Sharon, West Virginia, and it dates back to around 315 million years ago. At this time West Virginia was covered by an ancient swamp.

Collected samples for CFF from the Balls Bluff Siltstone, part of the Bull Run Formation, which in itself is part of the Newark Supergroup. This formation is 202.5- 201.4 million years old, and outcrops along the Potomac River, in Virginia.

Hehehe, yeah I was really early in the Adrift Redux and I came across a system where I was first contact that was right in the expedition path and got an amazing idea.

So basically if my understanding is correct it's similar to what's going on at Grave's MNT, effectively you've got two different types of iron oxides coating one another and causing an interference. So technically this is probably Turgite but I don't have any data to prove that.
