A new chapter I just published with Brill on how oral history and testimonies have been used in Timor-Leste's independence campaign and their status as a potential resource for future generations. But what are the ethical, material and structural constraints? brill.com/display/book...

Why does ABC News uses 'baku tembak' (crossfire) when the Balibo 5 journalists were murdered by Indonesian army operatives in October 1975? And the English version refers to 'murders'. Shame. #timorleste www.abc.net.au/indonesian/2...

Don't know about that. The Jirdarup Bushland shows the long-term impact of a warming climate and overall drying. Hard for some rain one year to take care of a longer-term problem. Trees are still dying from being heat-stressed and disease-stricken.

Ha, it would have been good if they did those 2 things way back in the 1970s: Not accept integrasi just like and not tell the East Timorese their country would be unviable. How many lives could've been saved?
