One of my dream announcements for this year's presents would be a sequel to Detective Pikachu. I know it's unlikely, but I'd love to see another Pokémon movie in the same vein. It's become one of my favourite things this franchise has done so I'd love to see it happen.

I have a love-hate relationship with Pokémon because, while I adore the creatures, world-building, and TV shows/movies, I believe the games released in recent years have failed to do the franchise justice.

All I ask is for the next mainline Pokémon game to be good.

Today is Pokémon Day and this one is especially noteworthy because it marks the 30th anniversary of when Pokemon Red and Blue released.

In preparation, I watched Pokemon Concierge yesterday, which was both wholesome and wonderful. I hope the Presents ends up being great

In the time that I played this I found it to be fun but hard as nails. Reminded me of those on rail shooters that I played back on the PS3.

I love the gothic art style it's going for since it makes this a perfect game to play during spooky season. For the price it's worth it.

As a person who's into platformers this was a fun experience from Electro Soul Games. I'm hopeful that these guys are able to make more games in the future since they certainly have potential to do great things in this industry.

Indies deserve support more than ever.

I loved that I could approach the level in a variety of ways rather than needing to go about things a certain way. For example, I prefer to be stealthy, so being able to throw something at a turret to kill someone while avoiding danger is a method I always used.

A while back,
@flynnsarcade.bsky.social sent me review codes for several of their games, one of them being Ion Shift, which I finally beat but doing so was painful due to how difficult it was. I really enjoyed it though because of its challenge, captivating level design, and playful writing.

In two days it will be Pokemon Day and this one is monumental considering it marks the 30th anniversary of the franchise.

While I have a love/hate relationship with this series I cannot deny the cultural impact it's had. One of the most legendary franchises on the planet.

CAPGOD STRIKES AGAIN!

Even though the scores for RE Requiem were slightly lower than I anticipated, they are still excellent, making it a GOTY contender. Capcom simply knows how to make great games while maintaining the talent they have.

What they achieved here is remarkable.

That's Xbox for you. Acquire something that's good then turn it to shit.

They basically ruin their gooses when your suppose to take good care of them.

SIGN ME THE FUCK UP! Insomniac is one of my favourite studios in the industry so whenever they release something I'm going to be there to support them! Spider-Man 2018 is still my favourite title from them so we'll see if they can top it for me.

They probably didn't but it was the only way I think they were going to realistically sell Tango at all. If it wasn't for the amount of backlash they got I don't think Tango stays around.

Letting go of Tango and the Hi-Fi Rush IP is going to be one of Xbox's biggest regrets. Its going to be up there with the closure of Lionhead Studios in 2016.

Mark my words.

Overall, Phil Spencer's legacy will be a mixed bag because, while he dug the brand out of the trenches in 2013, he left it in bad shape, with confusion about what Xbox is at an all-time high and consumer trust being at an all-time low. He also broke several promises that he made.

After this acquisition was finalized Xbox pivoted to a multiplatform strategy but at the start of it Phil was like its just these 4 games and not a fundamental change to our strategy. Well, that statement aged like milk, because now they're releasing everything on all platforms.

Although closing Tango I feel was one of the worst decisions made during this era, buying Activision Blizzard was much worse because it resulted in long-term ramifications like thousands being laid off, the closure of multiple studios, and massive price increases to Game Pass.

Regardless, closing down Tango, a talented Japanese studio, was one of the worst decisions made during this era. Arkane Austin did not deserve to be closed either despite the release of Redfall. They were forced to work on that due to Bethesda's desire to have live service titles.

Phil Spencer wasn't exactly powerless though, given that he was the head of Xbox and should have had a role in the decisions made. If he was forced to cut costs, I believe he should have at least fought for those studios. Perhaps he did, but I must be critical of what happened.

When someone says something but then goes back on their word it breaks that line of trust between the company and the customer. It makes you feel deceived which is how I felt when these decisions were made under Phil’s leadership.

Now was he forced to do this? Who knows.

That was until Phil chose to go back on his word with statements he made, including the acquisition being for great exclusive games and his desire to have a Japanese studio. How exactly? Tango was shut down after Hi-Fi Rush released, and they shifted to a multiplatform strategy.
