My dad died 18 years ago today. It doesn’t feel as if it’s been that long and I still miss him so much. This is one of the only photos I have of the both of us together.

I’ve been listening to music on cassettes most of the evening. I’m culling my stockpile, so am checking some to ensure they’re fine and then going off on nostalgic tangents. I really need to get a cassette to mp3 converter to preserve the mixed tapes.

It’s annoying and pretty rude. The no-shows are definitely the worst. At least have the courtesy to say you changed your mind.

I’m going through hundreds and hundreds of my CDs, trying to figure out what to cull. So far I’ve only managed to put aside around 20 to offload. And now I want to set up my computer to play some of them on my external drive…

If I ever feel I’ve priced an item on Marketplace too high, I’ll remind myself of all the times someone rescheduled, was late, was a no-show, etc. and of what a time-sink it can be to just try to part with an item.

I need coffee.

Mind you, I was mostly ordering in because I spent a month and a half moving and then Eli-cat got sick and died. It was was either that or eating a lot of canned stuff.

I’ve only ordered food for delivery once in the last two months. It was from an Ethiopian place and DoorDash had some great deal on —30% off and no delivery fee. Plus I had a $4 credit. I used to order in 2-3 times a month. I’ve definitely been cooking a lot more and saving money.

I placed my order this morning and should have it sometime next week!

I have enough Air Miles to get this for free. It will surely be more enjoyable than my current 10+ year old USB turntable (which I can’t use right now since a friend has had my Mac’s hard drive for six months).

I had groceries delivered last night and forgot to put my celery into the fridge. One of the cats gnawed at the leaves and promptly left me a tiny mess to welcome me home after work. I’ve been tempted to grow them some cat grass, but have feared the same thing might occur.

My downstairs neighbour keeps a bird in her apartment. :-( I never hear the bird except in the half-hour or so leading up to the time the neighbour usually gets home from work.

I work for government and we accept payments by cheque, money order or (for specific things) EFTs and I’ve noticed a steady increase in businesses wanting to make payments electronically.

With online banking now, I’m guessing it’s just a question of time re: their being shuffled out of use for good.

Do people still have chequing accounts? I’ve had one forever but haven’t written a cheque in nearly a decade. I’ve even paid rent via EFT for that long.

Today I held a $10 bill for the first time since the COVID lockdown began. I sold something on Marketplace I’ve been carting around new/unused for over two years. This might be the start of some serious decluttering!
