Sorry, i need to add context to this. Now, i mean this, personally, about large, commercially successful properties, not smaller artists being ripped off by someone else for clout. Its also not an entirely simple subject to define, because the line will be entirely different depending on the work.

Now, that doesnt mean i want those works to ruin a career, destroy a property or cause problems for others. Its purely in spirit of admiring a work.

I am guilty of attempting to emulate styles of huge properties, and i agree its especially difficult, but again its potentially a lot of fun.

I feel almost like im on the opposite side of what you're saying. It probably depends on the intention of the artist too. There is something, particularly about me. A rabid fan-ness, that I can admire about emulating a style. That is fun to see, sparking a "what if it WAS official?" feeling.
