I know minty stuff in particular will linger through water too though, because those are essentially oil based in most cases. So the lemon/citrus juice technique may help calm it down.

That's a lot of different factors, depending on the food. Sometimes just more water works. Some stuff like oily foods wont react much to water, unless its got something to cut the oil away. Like citrus juices mixed in. Minty gums and mint candies are meant for canceling out flavors too.

Toothpicks and swig some water. if you dont have access to your bathroom stuff like a toothbrush.

This is mostly game dependent, ive had several ps2 games run right out of the "box" but some do need tweaks. MGS2 Substance, for instance had similar slowdowns during cutscenes due to certain FX happening.

I actually tried it for the first time a month ago, and it started fairly fun but it had some really bad choices as you get further in. Some not fun forced action sequences using wiimote aiming and weird annoying gameplay seizing for narrative reasons. Otherwise its passable.
