Harvest time!

Not sure on the exact height or weight, but I’ve grown a couple of 100 pounders before and could pick those up with some considerable effort.

I couldn’t budge this thing. So guessing 150?

It was either grow this thing or work on myself as a person. Time will tell if I made a good choice 🤷

The pictures don’t do it justice but this thing is huge! I have grown a couple around 100lbs and this one is running about the same (at least that’s my guess.)

Little bit of orange on the skin, so it may be done growing? The cooler nights might’ve had something to do with it

It’s a lumber jack o’lantern

Pumpkin update:

Currently about 20+ pounds (they grow quick!) and I’ve covered it with an old picnic blanket

The reason being is that direct sunshine hardens the skin which stops growth. So, you can keep it growing by keeping it shaded

Long time no post but… we got a pumpkin!!!

The plant sprouted four total fruits but one was growing faster than the others. I picked the others so the plant would put its energy towards just this one

Right now, it’s about the size of a volleyball

Long time since an update but we’ve sprouted flowers. These flowers attract the pollinators a few days before the flowers with ovaries sprout

Little wilt-y this morning due to the heat and lack of rain. I water a lot but pumpkins demand a lot of fluid

We’re crawling!

Made a little chicken wire ramp to hold it up as it crawls to ground level so there’s not a harsh bend in the vine. That can cause it to crack and possibly kill the whole vine

I am very grateful to all the excellent game companies who made the last few years a LOT more bearable.

Board games, card games and rpgs have helped A LOT and you are all my heroes.

And were planted. Not the most photogenic setting but need to keep the rabbits and squirrels off the plant until the main stalk can grow a bit

The second leaf has outgrown the first. When the first appears, its main job is to crank out sugars to sprout the other leaves, so it’s done growing

Second leaf now bigger than the first. And the roots are about to bust out. Need to get this thing planted

Unfortunately, this is when they are most delicious to rabbits, so gotta make sure it’s gonna be well-protected

Day 2: a second leaf and standing up straight. 🎃🎃🎃

I grow pumpkins in my backyard every year with mixed results. Some years, I’ve grown 90 lb Big Max or medium sized Jack O’Lanterns.

Some years, squirrels have destroyed the whole plant before I could get a pumpkin.

So, we’ll see how this goes

Guess what? For the foreseeable future, my feed is all about me growing a pumpkin.
