We ratified our second collective bargaining agreement with Hearst Magazines with 98% approval! This contract is a step forward, but we know the work doesn’t end here. We look forward to continuing to improve our workplace with union protections.

In the tumultuous media industry, guaranteed severance is a necessary security. Our first contract ensures laid-off employees get at least 4 weeks of severance because when companies cut jobs, stability and respect should be guaranteed.

In our last contract, we won guaranteed annual wage increases to protect against salary freezes.

After many of our members went years(!) without any raises, we were proud to win guaranteed annual increases in our 2023 contract. Now, we’re aiming for annual salary increases that exceed the rate of inflation, providing us the means for the healthy and fulfilling lives we deserve.

“In our last contract, we raised our lowest salaries from $45k to $60k*. *for NY/CA, non NY/CA: $55,800” Raising starting salaries in our 2023 contract was a huge win. As the cost of living continues to rise, we’re ready to keep building on that progress. Everyone deserves pay that keeps pace with life!

Writers Guild of America East Vox Media Union STRIKE AVERTED: TENTATIVE AGREEMENT REACHED!

BREAKING: The @voxmediaunion.bsky.social reached a tentative agreement with management on a new 3-year collective bargaining agreement! The 250-member unit will vote to ratify the contract in the coming days. As a deal has now been reached, there will not be any pickets outside Vox Media’s office.
