Sent out my very first editorial request to a referee today, and then Karma struck and I ended up with a request to referee an article for a different journal.
Eligibility includes: At least 18 years of age and at the rank of associate professor at Miami University.
And I thought I was old for an associate professor.
I'm getting soft in my old age. Now I only take off .5 for missing +C.
Gonna be honest. I did not expect my little one's first independent music opinion would be about Linkin Park.
People calling Philip Rivers grandpa and he's a year younger than me.
To be fair, he's an actual grandpa, which is crazy. My little one still has kid YouTube.
Those are rookie numbers
Teaching Calc II for the first time in a few years next semester. Looking over notes I left for myself on suggested revisions. I appreciate this one quite a bit:

Book #17 of 2025: The Candy House by Jennifer Egan. I thought this would be a bit more black-mirror-esque. Still a great read.

DSM to ORD was delayed, so I'd miss my 6pm to DAY. Got booked on an 8pm ORD to DAY, which was canceled 15 minutes later. Booked for next day 8am to DAY. That was canceled shortly after I got to ORD and then booked a 6pm next day. An agent this morning got me on an 11am that wasn't an option before.
We had a school board candidate working at a polling location until someone alerted election authorities. Thankfully he lost.
Book #16 of 2025: Liar's Poker by Michael Lewis. Usually I'm a big fan of Lewis' writing, but this one didn't grab me.
Citing an unpublished paper and the bibtek key is BS. The optics of this are not good. #mathsky
I really hope someday someone looks at my teaching evaluations and is like: "These aren't good enough, we're letting you go. And BTW, here's $54 million dollars. Bye."
Trying to teach my students good notation then the book goes and uses B for a basis AND B for the matrix whose columns are the vectors in B. #mathsky
A bonus to applying for a sabbatical is that I get to skip the department meeting where they talk about sabbaticals.
#Hoosiers going to no. 2 baby.
Here for the @amermathsoc.bsky.social sectional meeting in #StLouis. Awake because I'm on eastern time.
Would a micro pig be a micro purchase?
Oh, and the most useless was \tensor for \otimes
Probably the most useful macro I've ever defined is \inv for ^{-1}
