Best wishes to Marmite.
Got plans. Just got to get off my backside at some point and execute them.

GotTTO, now Never Let Them Back In. Proportional Representation covers that. Wood and Metal, makes stuff. Photos, good, bad, and ugly.
Best wishes to Marmite.

The trials of the builder. Unless you specified something unusual I'd of thought all the trimmings would be readily available. It's pretty generic stuff for a roofing job. Roofing superstores are a thing. Hope this resolves quickly.
Enjoy tonight.
I was hoping for a magical item, or maybe a small chest of gold. Alas.
07.11.2025 17:32 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Morning! just. May have to deploy the alarm clock and feel like crap for a few days. Didn't help that I was up 'till silly o'clock tending a bonfire on Wednesday night. The old fence has been disposed of.
Yeah! Friday, huh!
That's a bit passรฉ for High Schools, isn't it? Front row i-phone dad is expecting braids, fishnets, shortest shorts and a bit of twerking to completely inappropriate Drill, or explicitly worse, these days.
Hmmm? maybe that's Junior High.
It turns out that occasional lie-ins are habit formimg.
05.11.2025 08:38 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It shall be the most splendid gutter, if without the waterfall in the driveway.
04.11.2025 09:21 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Give some away, eat the rest. I steamed some last night.
Glad the singing went well.
Morning! It was ten to six and then it was half past eight. Too much fresh air yesterday, I reckon. Inadvertent lie-ins.
Yay! to food. Let that continue.
A man comes to properly clean and fix the guttering today.
I hope the throat and lungs were in fine form.
This foraging malarky. I went to see a Sweet Chestnut tree I hadn't seen in thirty odd years. A bit of an expedition, especially now that no one is maintaining the paths anymore, but worth it. Just under 2Kg.
They were unavailable for ages so I gave up looking for them at least a year ago but, as I was sorting an order for Tuesday anyway, I thought I'd look again. As if by magic(!) they're back. They're ok, for junk food, so are the spicey bean burgers. Ta for the nudge.
02.11.2025 20:25 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I saw the landholder photo. Great character portrait. If they're all similar to that I'd reckon it'll be interesting enough.
Beats hoovering.
Like the roofer news, though I guess that accounts for the not so good frantic. May the weather be fair.
Duxelles, looked it up, sounded tasty. Sainsbury's sold Shroomdogs once. They stopped. Mostly mushroom and onion sausages for vegans. They were pretty good.
Morning!โ Let busy be interesting (proofreading that museum stuff?)
Moving furniture about so I can hoover under and behind is morning so far. Hasn't been done in a while. Dust and cobwebs. Not interesting.
Must get bread going.
The truck was going to be a last suggestion, and just accept any parking fine. Glad a simple solution has been reached.
Then again, I'm someone who has had Oxford Street closed so that I could make a delivery. There's (mostly) always a solution in logistics.
For my council, Hillingdon, it's stated in the regs. that it is solely the responsibility of the skip company to apply for, and meet the conditions of, any permit.
I hope you're having luck sorting this mess. Unfortunately, I don't think your roof is getting done this week, unless miracles.
There are def. ways round that with some councils, as long as you're not causing a traffic obstruction. Good luck with your council, the written regs. don't say if you can or not but others, eg. N. Lincs, state yes with conditions.
Your roof might not get done this week.
www.norfolk.gov.uk/skips
Presuming the skip will be on the road you'll need a council permit. Has the roofer got that sorted? Just contact an actual local skip hirer (Gray Large Skip Hire, I looked), who'll have the council on speed dial, who will sort everything. Park your car where the skip needs to go.

Nose to the grindstone, again, on a weekend. Not sure being on a weekend really matters, other than psychologically, does it? The perils of being self employed.
No plans.
A week or so. Good job it didn't get really chilly before I noticed.
Thought you'd still be drunk under a hedge somewhere.
Enjoy the pie.
30.10.2025 16:40 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Heavy duty housework sounds like who needs a gym.
I have a working boiler. More expense than I would have liked but not as much as it could have been.
Fingers crossed for Sweeny Todd (though not him personally).
A foot afoot, that is a feat.
I have a working boiler.
WPV is still there, they didn't bother to delete it (or a lot of old stuff, I gather). It just can't be activated without a registry tweak. Luckily there are clever people running websites with idiot proof instructions that tell how to do that.
For clever stuff I'll use Lightroom.
Can I have XP back.
Turns all Onedrive off. Gets update. Oh f*kin' look, Onedrive is back on again.
Delves about to resuscitate Windows Photo Viewer.
Good. It's a common practice round here for scaffolders to just move the scaffold from site to site even if the job it's for might not start for weeks.
28.10.2025 18:54 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Hope you enjoyed the rissoto.
Does that mean the roofers are starting soon or are the scaffolders just 'storing' the scaffold at your house 'cos it saves them unloading and loading it again in their yard, if they've got one. Fingers crossed for you.
I have auto updates on. You mentioned turning them off once, perhaps you have done so. Windows dumped an update on me, including security and Copilot stuff. That's when things began to get blocked. Def, with a pop-up, began saying it couldn't talk to SS so, no.
You have Def turned off anyway, so...
I'd say don't don't turn SmartScreen off. If you find things go haywire it won't let you just turn it back on. I guess we're trapped there.
27.10.2025 13:38 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I gather SS and Def are now linked. If SS isn't there to tell Def it's OK, Def says no and won't let anything pass. These were installed apps that communicate with the outside World, like FlightRadar, and it wouldn't let them.
Thanks, re-installing, with an extra 'are you really sure'?, and testing.
