Truly. At this point my answer is "Maybe you should see a therapist about that." or ultimately I just don't entertain it unless its DEEPLY serious because unless you are paying me, I cannot hold space to be therapist in AND out of the chair so I couldnt imagine being a therapist with a PLATFORM

love being a counselor but the worst part is everyone starts venting to you without actual consent and even when you say you’re burnt out and you’re not their therapist… they continue to do it. Hey folks. Don’t do this to therapists who aren’t YOUR therapist. Not cool. Not fun.

Also to add: homophobia towards gay men in fandom is borderline ENCOURAGED these days. So. It's no wonder you see a lack of queer male presence in fandoms

It becomes less about queerness itself and more about who gets to define queer narratives. I also think stereotypes have to do with it. If we aren't the "stereotypical" gay man, we are overlooked and dismissed. I could go on and on as a gay man in fandom who has seen his fair share of backlash.

But you can only see people say "this ship/fandom ISNT FOR queer men" so much until you start to feel unwelcome lol. The mask off homophobia is so disheartening. People even saying He/ated Riv/alry, a show about queer men, isn't FOR queer men is wild to me.

I can't even explain the hate and disdain I see for queer men in fandom spaces ESPECIALLY gay men. I don't participate anymore to save myself the headache (besides maybe the Coral Island subreddit they're pretty chill).
