Not to jinx it but have strung together a few great days. 3+ hrs out w/wife visiting to play a game with friends and now I’m prepping plans for hosting SuperBowl tomorrow. Got my first vacation day of the year booked for later this month. 3 weeks until Dads bday(74), then 3 days after that I hit 50.
My motivation to do things I don’t need to do but would like to is mostly non-existent when not otherwise engaged. I too often think about what states will I be in before going to bed and between going to bed and starting my work day. Tiring, in a non-beneficial way. Hard habits to break most days.
Drifting snow alongside continued downfall has me not on the job today; trying to retrain brain to view this as less win and more of an chance to appreciate how we can accomplish in 4 days what we spread out over 5(tweak as needed) - I don’t really see me doing the all week 8-5 grind into my 60s!
Pain that “hurts” but is not “harmful” can be better managed through rewiring one’s brain via mental exercises. My struggle with that is load, what some since Covid have been calling co-morbidities. Goal is better, not perfect. Finally figuring out mindfulness too; rumination being the enemy of.
In a 10-week chronic pain group through provincial health and am finding it helpful. Winter is hard for me of late and while attending on Friday mornings has its downside, I’ve def noticed a change last couple weekends. Many days continue to be challenging but can see the silver linings more so.
