12.11.2025 15:04 โ ๐ 507 ๐ 89 ๐ฌ 48 ๐ 4The thing about the moment we are in is we have been here before. During the Brexit Referendum campaign, the Johnson years, and now with Farage's ascent. Our established press has played a role in why we have got to this point in British politics. What's happening at the BBC now was an inevitability

10.11.2025 16:12 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0The BBC's senior leadership resigning en masse over one dodgy edit in one programme, simply because the right wing press demands it, tells you everything you need to know about where the power really lies in that relationship
09.11.2025 20:04 โ ๐ 3042 ๐ 729 ๐ฌ 96 ๐ 26A social media post by Karoline Leavitt (The White House Press Secretary) showing two news headlines side-by-side. The left headline, under a caption that reads "Shot" reads: "Trump goes to war with 'fake news' BBC," and the right headline under a caption that reads "Chaser" reads: "Tim Davie resigns as BBC director general over Trump documentary edit."
I had my disagreements with the BBC under Tim Davie but he was a decent man doing a difficult job.
To see Trump's White House claiming credit for his downfall and attacking the BBC should worry us all.
Very useful. The auto moderation is pretty useless as it stands. Completely reasonable content with zero rudeness, intolerance or threats is hidden whilst (usually conservative leaning) threatening, intolerant or rude content is let through.
Likely just poorly implemented rather than malicious.

06.11.2025 19:07 โ ๐ 1991 ๐ 672 ๐ฌ 10 ๐ 0What happens now is that every dropped piece of trash, every inch of graffiti, every broken down subway train, every disappointing sandwich, every rat in Central Park, and every single crime gets blamed on Zohran Mamdani... by racists who never go near NYC.
My tip as a Londoner. Shrug and carry on.
From what Iโve gleaned online, itโs very similar to what I already advise for clients. Having a great book (with decent references) I can refer people to will make persuading people of the benefits much easier.

If Labour had told the truth about taxes & the costs of Brexit before the election, its majority would be smaller.
But it would have more real power & the public would put more faith in its judgment
Yep. Also relentless focus on issues that concern a majority of voters, looking like you actually enjoy being around said voters, questioning the worth of old taboos, seeing 'strategic consultants' for what they are, not being scared of old men running old newspapers, and being *funny*.

So much terrible political decision-making in the UK stems from a British political and media class marinated in MAGA Right online myths that still hasn't grasped that Trump won a pretty narrow majority and then quickly went on to become a deeply unpopular President.
