3. Knowledge privilege is real. I have had the privilege to learn how to ask questions and am hopefully teaching my kid to do the same.

2. Asking a kid to explain things they are learning and asking good questions is important. A question as simple as "why is it important that a white person would get punished harsher than the black person they were helping" can open up so much.

Thoughts from helping my high school student in their early college class:
We don't teach enough about Reconstruction. EVERY time I encounter it, I am reminded how fucked the whole thing was/is and that cannot be encountered enough, especially since we still live it's consequences.
