I was on this episode and tried to research the show we were covering and every single new source I found only made me feel like I understood the facts of this show even less! Get on your boogie suit, do your absolute worst disco moves, and enjoy another look at end-stage variety TV.

This is gonna be the craziest way to learn JAJ isn’t coming back for the next season

When I say I want to see the show overhauled, it isn’t cutting new folks who were bringing fresh, unique energy. It’s about letting people go who have been intrenched in the show for too long, with very little left to give. Fucking hell. RETIRE, LORNE. Jesus.

This is just wrong. A complete fucking mess of a decision. Emil had a killer first season! Had some good update appearances, anchored sketches adeptly, seemed poised to fill the spaces Mikey occupied once he left. Just an awful, awful choice here.

Celeste Yim and Rosebud Baker aren’t coming back. They’re screen testing Longfellow and KC Shornima for Weekend Update. I think it’s finally happening, folks. I think they’re finally gonna overhaul the show.

And to be clear, I don’t expect them to even start to approach the scorched earth tactics that SP is deploying, but anything to move the needle towards having some balls would be nice

Not that it really matters that much, I know, but I’d just like some political satire on the show with some piss and vinegar again rather than shoving JAJ out there to say more Gen-Z slang and movie references as if that ever counted for anything. It’s nut up or shut up time now.

Going to be fascinating to see what SNL will do with their cold opens in a post-Gavin Newsom and (current) South Park world. They’ve needed to step their game up for *years* now and I wonder if this is what will finally galvanize them to actually do so.

The New Show is one of the most interesting, inscrutable failures in TV history and it was lovely to talk about it in between oversharing and doing my "Emo Phillips doing a cold read for the role of Bane" impression (I swear it's on topic, sort of).
