KEY POINTS
• The claim "vaccines do not cause autism" is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism.
• Studies supporting a link have been ignored by health authorities.
• HHS has launched a comprehensive assessment of the causes of autism,
including investigations on plausible biologic mechanisms and potential causal links.

The U.S. government is now inarguably spreading medical disinformation that is going to kill babies preferentially.

Period.

This is an INTOLERABLE. UNPRECEDENTED. DANGEROUS. ATTACK. ON ALL OF US.

Autism and Vaccines Answers to common questions about vaccine safety and autism.

A lesson in bad science. You can’t say “there is no evidence vaccines don’t cause autism” when in fact there is no evidence they do. This page claims they are following “gold standard science” when they cherry pick small observational studies that show what they want

We need to discuss power dynamics in relationships more and I spent the rest of my visit with this patient empowering her, speaking about consent, pleasure, and power. She was taken aback and said she appreciated our talk.

Yesterday was a busy day in the STI clinic, but one of my last patients had reported pain during sex. Turns out they had trich, but the more important discussion was what happened when they disclosed to their partner their discomfort, the partner ignored my pt. This is not ok…

Who you gonna turn to in times of crisis then? All this talk is just noise but when crises come, and people die, who you gonna trust?! A lawyer with zero medical experience? Or doctors who have spent decades studying medicine…

In 2022, the name 'monkeypox' was nixed. Now the U.S. is reviving it The World Health Organization retired the name "monkeypox" in favor of mpox — since the virus is spread by rodents and small mammals and there's a stigma factor. Why has the U.S. revived "monkeypox"?

I spoke with NPR about this along with @boghuma.bsky.social. This is all a distraction and about retribution.

And the CDC has officially decided to switch back from Mpox to Monkeypox. A reminder, the world still uses Mpox, this disease does not come from monkeys, Mpox is less stigmatizing and racist. Switching back is just meaningless, unnecessary, racist, and homophobic.

STI rates coming down, but still lots of work to do. This is a combination of public health efforts, doxyPEP, regular screening and treatment, and expedited partner therapy. Congenital syphilis STILL INCREASING though and requires regular testing 3x in pregnancy where high rates of syphilis #STISky

This is the most anti-science thing I have watched today.
What is most shocking about this is all of these statements are being made without any scientific evidence to back it up.
There are very few safe options to treat pain and fever in pregnancy so this is also an attack on women's health.

Pregnant women can't access the #COVID vaccine. If they get #COVID and develop a fever, they can't take Tylenol? 🫠.
Both COVID infection and untreated maternal fever increase the risk of bad outcomes for both fetus and mother ranging from preterm delivery to death.
None of this is pro-life.

Every medical professional I know has dreaded this announcement and unanimously called it questionable at best. Large cohorts have shown there is NO link between acetaminophen and autism, it is by definition a confounder at best, and leucovorin…I have no words

We are working on posting an archived version, but lemme say this clearly. I took an oath to do no harm. I will practice best evidence medicine, that includes providing care to trans and gender diverse folks. To dictate otherwise is to practice medicine without a license and to cause direct harm

While the world has been on perpetual fire and dealing with the whirlwind of public health issues being thrown at it, the CDC STI Treatment Guidelines for Trans and Gender Diverse folks was removed. This is the government directly interfering in medical care of a historically neglected population.

What’s in a name you ask? Everything if that name means making patients feel more comfortable and less stigmatized. Great piece by @npr.org featuring @boghuma.bsky.social and myself, talking about the renaming of mpox (once again)
