I don't mean that they shouldn't have things like completion or ranking or whatever, but that it shouldn't really matter if it takes you 1 attempt or 1000 attempts to do it. But a lot of online culture and fandom spaces seem to fixate on that. I've fallen into it now and then.
Games are art and all but I don't think people should take them so important that they forget the whole point of them is that they're games. You get out of them as much as you want to put in. Winning or losing should have no real consequence. You aren't meant to be judged by them.
You can experience fruitier aero the same exact way back then as now. Just set it as the background to your computer or load images for apps and then read up on the US invading the Middle East, just like back then.

I did a demo for chapter 1 a while back, which was pretty informative and encouraging enough. I probably won’t submit another public one until I’m closer to an alpha state. I’ll be working with private demos until then.

On yesterday’s note, sometimes I think the ideas that excite us the most personally, aren’t always groundbreaking and just make us happy to see.
I think that it's better to use a medium a means of exploration, self-improvement and appreciation. Getting better means knowing more and understanding more of the complexity there. You get to see other perspectives from people, you get better at communicating ideas.
I’m not saying this as someone trying to be popular, it’s just on reflection cause I see the topic a lot. I think for my own happiness I’m just focused on realizing an idea that’s important to me, than in managing all that.
I don’t think it’s good to ever feel entitled to success, and I think if that’s your main drive you just won’t get far. It’s a mix of genuine interest in ideas, understanding the medium as a whole, and some social skills that I think will increase the likelihood of getting somewhere.
I think there’s aspects of that you can try to control? Getting a better awareness of what’s out there, generating ideas and recognizing ones with potential that excite you without being overly niche. More experience making games. Building up an audience and trust, maintaining relevant contacts…
I don’t think there’s any guaranteed trick on how to get popular with a game, I might sum it up as an engaging premise executed well enough that is then able to find and maintain momentum. All of that is easier said than done
