the best thing about xiv is how it can function as a virtual world where i can hang out with my friends thousands of miles from me. like second life, but without the horrifying motion sickness that gives me HGJKADFHKGJF
it's tough to comment on msq because it was only ever entertaining to me like an action movie, i don't think i got passionately invested in it. like msq is fun but if the game was only msq and not mmo, i would not play it
longtime friends/followers know that i used to raid hardcore and it basically consumed my life lol. and it was so so hard to quit, but also the best decision i ever made. i have a much healthier relationship to the game now
i love it so much!! it was one of the first "real" games i ever played (aka not a free browser game), on my laptop in college using my trackpad...it felt so amazing and huge and limitless
i resubbed to xiv last week so i can play with my friend, and it is such a strange feeling to no longer have strong investment in the story or the character i'm running around on. i'm just playing a game. honestly a relief! hooray for being ultra casual!
i don't play a lot of games and i didn't start in earnest until i was in college lol. good ole dino run will always have a special place in my heart for how much it awed and distracted me during computer classes
