Her T-shirt reads LINUX in a tall yellow font and sits above her grey Tripp pants with yellow decorations. Beneath the illustration are the roman numerals XI - XX and an infinity symbol, denoting 11/20, corresponding to the artist's first drawing of her and Transgender Day of Remembrance.

This isn't the end. Nor are we at the end game right now.
The internet was always meant to be open, free and built to allow the world to communicate. Let's not surround ourselves in doomerism and push back for better solutions that protect our rights.
Don't waste this before it's too late.
I don't live in doomerism. I hope you can tell. Please use your voice, your worry, anger and fear, towards politicians, towards payment processors, daily, hell, even hourly.
Annoy the living fuck out of them.* Because they don't dictate your life.
*don't harass them. Be relentless, not cruel.
Do not accept this situation of "Oh, I need my ID to view the situation in Gaza" as defeat. It is not defeat, but we need to not lead it in a direction where these platforms are the only things that exist on the internet.
The law can be amended. You just need to lead the charge.
The internet is not dead, but it's dangerously centralised. We need to support decentralisation as an option, and if not, continue to push politicians to stop policing the internet.
Invest in the cracks. Indie web forums, decentralised hosting, hell, even support @newgrounds.com if you can.
If companies can genuinely feel the heat in this regard, who's to say we can't push back for politicians?
The "Repeal the OSA" petition has nearly 500,000 signatures, and Wikipedia is already suing the UK government for categorising Wikipedia as a danger to children "supposedly".
It's sheer vulnerability on their part, and the fact that so many adult creators have been fighting this battle for years, even beyond the internet, shows this is a massive issue that deserves recognition.
On that note, we need to push for more options in payment processors, not this shit duopoly.
Remember, we're still knee deep in the Visa/MasterCard adult policy war. And because of pressure, they had to respond. Not a great statement from either of them, but the fact they're responding means it's working.
PayPal tried to fine people $2.5K for what they say online? They walked it back HARD.
And because they were easier to access, it meant politicians found easy targets to shoot at.
OSA was designed to be vague on purpose, so they can deny accountability. It's a cowardly act.
But I do believe that in every situation like this, it comes back to bite politicians in the ass.
Does anyone even REMEMBER the Facebook Cambridge Analytica situation? Or did we brush it aside? Because that is a good example of why these companies are not your friend.
Instead of sticking to independent journalism, we let Twitter accounts based on betting news stories dictate our lives.
Before we even knew what "Facebook" was, we all were scattered amongst different websites. Forums, indie spaces, Neocities pages. But these all became phased out as we started to adopt tweeting as opposed to blogging.
We let centralised platforms become part of our lives. Faster, sleeker, and easy.
"The internet is dead", "Privacy is dying", "they're coming for everything". These are all words. But they don't do anything. You're screaming into the void. It's basically burned calories.
Truth of the matter is that most of us gave up privacy long before OSA was a twinkle in a Tory's eyes.
and a massive push for VPN usage. But a lot of the paranoia surrounding it feels very much like they're worried in the wrong places. Let me explain.
I'm not saying that you're not right to be worried, all of us are at this point. But a lot of it is channelled into panic and fear.
Course, that isn't to say these things NEVER happened, because they still did, and their after effects are still seen in much of the internet. But one hasn't been as loud as the Online Safety Act.
I've seen so many people on the internet worry about their privacy, their access on social media sites
So I've seen it all. SOPA, PIPA, the Article 13 legislation. Practically a lot of it was surrounded in worry and fear that the internet as we knew it will soon become more dictated and controlled. But the difference with these is the fact they became much more nullified when they came into action.

We're not at the end game yet, but if we don't speak louder soon enough, we might be.
