"Ally" is what someone else deems you, not a label you can don to pass through the world unchallenged. Self-annointed allies often end up being disappointing flavors of other -isms & so tender about how they see themselves that anything less than adoration sends them quickly & radically rightward.
The numbers will go up until morale improves
It's not complicated or even a strong moral stance to say that ICE is bad for business, it's just a fact. Yet somehow they can't seem to bring themselves to say it.
It doesn't take a major AI investment or a rebrand to turn things around for Target. They just need to say it.
I wanted so badly for Target to be on the right side of this. They're a MN company! They were the largest fiscal sponsor of Twin Cities Pride! And they also have finally agreed to do the thibgs they volunteered to do...back in 2021.
good morning, hey btw this was secretly a subskeet
because it's true for you, too.
perfection is not a prerequisite for love.
you are worth loving just as you are. π
If there are no approved drugs or the approved drugs have bigger risks and fewer benefits, you look elsewhere.
Approval of medication for specific conditions is as much about profit potential as it is about safety and efficacy. And not all approved treatments are effective or safe for all patients! Providers need to weigh potential harm with potential good, for the specific person in front of them.
Getting approved increases the likelihood and quality of insurance coverage, which in turn encourages patients and providers to prescribe them...both for their on-label usage but also to get those off-label benefits.
Getting your drug approved for use with different conditions also taps you into new markets. GLP-1 drugs have historically been used on-label for Type 2 diabetes and off-label for weight loss...but recently they've been seeking approval for things like sleep apnea.
You get your immunosuppressant approved for psoriatic arthritis, and when the patent is about to expire and generics are about to be allowed, you get it approved for rheumatoid arthritis. And then maybe psoriasis or lupus, resetting the patent timer each time.
OKAY ALSO getting drugs approved for individual and specific issues is a bit part of how drug companies keep their products protected by intellectual property law, and therefore more expensive and more profitable to them for longer.
I'm clearly informed here. My insurance company knows exactly what I'm taking and why, and they have no issues. All my providers are in the loop and love the plan. How can it in any way be construed as healthcare fraud?
What's even more telling is that it's basically never used as an antidepressant, because the doses at which it's most effective tend to cause gnarly side effects. At my dose, there are very few and they tend to be mild.
I take a migraine preventative, and I chose it because it also helps with depression and nerve pain, both areas where I have some mild issues. IT IS A THREE-IN-ONE DRUG FOR ME, but the only on-label use of the drug is as an antidepressant.
Uhhhhhhh guys I take three prescriptions and two are at least partially for off-label uses. In fact that's how my providers and I picked them -- we prioritized drugs that helped with the problem at hand *and* were likely to come with benefits for other issues.
Things in Minnesota have resumed to the point where Trump-appointed judges can act like Trump-appointed judges again
Who do I talk to about getting "ICE-hating harpy" on a t-shirt?
BIRRIA ON EVERYTHING! I've never been disappointed by anything stuffed with birria and cheese.
Happy "None of Us Will Be Shoveling This Snow" Day for all who celebrate, which is all of us.
Yeah, that feels about right.
My guess is that we would on the whole feel warmer towards Americans than the average, and that we would probably rank higher than Canada on how we feel about fellow Minnesotans.
I wonder what you'd see if you look at data for Minnesota in the last 5 months. What would we say about our fellow Minnesotans, and what would we say about other Americans?
TRUTH. Honestly, the REAL victory is that I *have the opportunity* to give them money and tip generously in exchange for birria on basically anything/everything in the hopes that we can continue this mutually beneficial arrangement into the future.
The legitimacy comes from building a coalition of support from people with mutually exclusive interests, getting enough support to.seem legitimate. They need lots of people to vote against their own beliefs and best interests, so they fearmonger and lie and speak in propagandistic euphamism. (2/2)
I've studied Nazi Germany extensively. Like from profs born in Nazi Germany and at German universities. And it's pretty clear that, at least in Nazi Germany but likely elsewhere, fascism rises through a combination of grift and legitimacy, but (1/2)
He's just a tiny, weak man who is running so scared of his own insignificance he had to crime his way into every notable job he's ever had, which is why he invariably sucks at all of them. He doesn't want to lead, or even be in charge. He wants to feel important.
Entirely possible, but his behavior also tracks well with other behavioral disorders like narcisism, and like yeah he might have ADHD but that's definitely not *why* he's so terrible, ya know?
While I don't disagree with the possibility, I think we can probably think of better insults that don't disparage people with physical or neurological difference. Let's all feel free to brainstorm some zingers here, it's honestly more fun.
Dispatches from Minnesota: A small victory today, my local taco truck reappeared.
Oh geez yeah that too. So many horrors, so little time π΅βπ«
