Dear Russian Embassy, you need to check English Law where you will find there are two types of defamation. slander and libel. No matter, you can’t slander or libel a country.

It’s not quite a “news” issue. BBC News is still part of BBC public service. The Panorama was a documentary made by an independent production company. But final sign off rests at BBC News executive level.

This is true but they hand their enemies ammunition with such carelessness. A transition such as a cross-fade rather than a simple edit would have flagged the fact that the two clips were from different parts of the speech.

Theatre too incredibly. Once leant forward during a performance of His Girl Friday at the National Theatre to ask a young couple to stfu. Wasn’t looking forward to the interval but they sloped off without eye contact or comment.

They don’t seem to have had much success with the promised “deep, structural change” in councils. Why would anyone believe this schtick?

And then covered on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg and then followed by a piece on the BBC news website. So, not ignored by BBC News.

It was covered on BBC Radio bulletins last night with a report by the political correspondent Helen Katz.

Was this in their manifesto? Don’t recall it.

If something blows up in your face, it wasn’t worth the risk.

I wasn’t sure there was a need for another documentary on this disaster which impacted the lives of so many people. What could it possibly add? I was wrong. Very good piece of work.

What like health, education, social security, transport…..?

Both Germany and Japan surrendered unconditionally. That’s not a negotiation.

It is brilliant. Great cast.

Maybe a better better venue than the Festival Theatre for this kind of play? I thought it was a terrific piece of theatre in every aspect - writing, staging, direction, performance.

Agree it was a little on the long side but that it was Act II that needed tightening. Don’t agree with other points. Act I was needed to set up the Goodwin character. You can’t structure the whole play round a star actor (Cox) who won’t always play the role. I saw it at Dundee Rep.
