May I borrow your map? I need a new Teams wallpaper and my coworkers and I are Lego enthusiasts?

Thank you for this list! I look forward to digging in. We know the Italian Renaissance was fueled by trade wealth flowing into Florence. But i don’t recall much being taught about the origins of the Scottish Enlightenment. Would be good to know and recreate the conditions that spur such movements

Happy birthday to NYC! An incredible city and victim of so many of my early cartographic lessons in school!

Good to hear publishing is beneficial for you!
I believe this post is the first time I’ve learned of you and your work.
Your first listed work about Gray Library prompts me to ask.
What resources would you recommend to the layperson looking for a solid understanding of the Enlightenment period?

I do like the Safari nib. Aluminum body is intriguing. I’ll have to take a look for sure

I write better with medium nibs. I’d like to stay $50 or lower. But willing to delay and save up for a better pen.

Say, I’m looking for fountain pen suggestions.

Currently, have a Lamy Safari Vista and KakΓΌno but they feel very thin in my hand. After a page my hand starts to ache a bit.

Anyone have suggestions for thicker bodied pens?

Thank you! I’m very clearly new and still learning the ropes here.

The IA GIS group recently formed an Enterprise interest group. The folks there are knowledge and helpful.
If you’re interested DM me and I’ll get you in contact with the group.

MN GIS LIS Consortium in October is top-notch. Last fall one workshop was an Enterprise, Portal, Web Adaptor intro.
Another focused on a city migrating and administering an AWS system.
If MN is not doable for you,
I suggest a state or regional GIS conference with similar.

So this was me a couple years back.
What failed - I hired a consultant. I was very upfront about my needs. I feel like sales didn’t pass that along to the person I hoped would mentor me.
What worked -
Esri online training courses.
Instructor led courses.

Jumping in to add that a personal/non-commercial use license for ArcGIS Pro and AGOL is only $100 a year.

This is spectacular!
Just downloaded the app.
This spring i planted a small plot of prairie flowers in the yard.
Monarchs took up residence and had offspring. Counted about 16 at one point.
I enjoy going out and just watching them float around with the bees for a few minutes every day.

They are beautiful!
The only reason I don't carry one daily - they slip out of my pants pocket. They're smooth and slide out because I'm unobservant.
I did discover that the Fisher F-701 stainless steel pen will accept a Fisher Space Pen refill. The F-701 has a knurled grip, a clip, and retracts.

The Onion newspaper. A photo of a man and woman in swim clothes holding coconuts sit a sandy beach while a cartographer holding a coconut looks on.
The caption reads β€œWorld’s cartographers continue living secret life of luxury on idyllic, never disclosed 8th continent.”

As a GIS enterprise engineer and sometimes cartographer, I wish this were true…

Great news! Flew Kenmore from Seattle to the San Juan Islands last fall! Flying on a floatplane was a bucket item list for me. I even got to sit up front with the pilot. Absolutely made this list item unforgettable!

Can’t go wrong with LaVazza! What is the egg dish? And, what is the topping on the bread? Looks delicious!

Dell Precision 5490
Intel Core Ultra 9 2.50Ghz
64GB RAM
Nvidia RTX2000 GPU

Ordered the highest end machine work offered then maxed the RAM and GPU.
No complaints. Does ArcPro just fine.
I do utility line work, not analytics or graphics. I went overkill on specs because I’ll have this til 2029.

Stumbled upon Uruguay’s GIS data one day while searching for something else. Spent about five minutes looking over the data they provide. Impressive how much they have and make available. So I had to read their Wikipedia page. Impressive country.
Would like to visit.
