It’s why we encourage graduates to invite their families to the ceremony. This was hosted at the Ethiopia Hotel in Addis.We hope it will push our communities to celebrate these accomplishments and allow women to pursue a life with dignity at home and beyond what is offered under the kafala system.

Many of them are pressured by husbands, & even parents to go back to the Middle East.This pressure forces many women to migrate again, & to drop out of classes. Some 600 of our sisters have graduated since 2022, but many more would have, if they simply had an encouraging support system at home..

It takes a lot of mental fortitude for these women to enroll.The students have suffered all sorts of horrific experiences in Saudi Arabia, Lebanon,Yemen,Sudan & elsewhere. They return home, often to families & communities that don’t comprehend what it is they lived in these countries.

It has been 3 years since our vocational school offering free education for MDW and refugees returnees in Ethiopia was launched. On Saturday, the latest group of 226 students graduated, completing courses in clothes design, sewing or hairstyling.
