10.10.2025 01:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I liked it a lot. 4 outta 5 Super Kick Parties
10.10.2025 01:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Ignore my typos and whatnot - I was a few hours out of foot surgery and on pain pills.
04.10.2025 11:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0And I've hung out with him and the other rad folks in Spells a bunch (enough I would say im friends with all those folks too). My wife even got to play with them on stage on tambourine, on stage earlier this year in Chicago
03.10.2025 20:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Spells - Stayin In > Going Out.
How do you make friends with new people in your 40s? By records from their label. I started buying a ton from Snappy Numbers, and eventually started trading emails with Spells member and SLN owner Chuck Coffey. We eventually became good friends....
It was Jawbox's FYOSS. I was like "well OK dude. I wanna be cool". And it blew my mind. So rocking and so great! It's still in my top 10 of all time.
03.10.2025 20:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I would go in once a week or so and spend my McDonald's check on whatever. I knew Fugazi, but not much else in Dischord, so Jawbox wasn't on my radar.
I forget what I was buy....maybe Tool. But the dude behind the counter (a cool kid) is as like don't waste your money on that....buy this....
Jawbox - For Your Own Special Sweatheart. (1994)
I was and older brother and lived in podunk Danville, IN. My friends were getting into local hard-core bands and what not and it wasn't my scene.
There was a Karma Records in Avon IN where I thought some pretty cool kids worked.
Who was this band and where can I find their record. I searched at all the Indianapolis record stores and finally found a copy that fall at Coconut Records, across from Layfette Square Mall....tats, so many records and shows and even more awesome friends all made because of the power of RFTC
03.10.2025 20:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In a sea of bunch of tunes I really enjoy stood out two tracks- Otha Fish from Pharcyde and Ditch Digger from RFTC. The Pharcyde tape was easy to find and I played the shit out of it in my brown, 1988 Chevy Cavieir. But it was the Rocket track I was obsessed with.
03.10.2025 19:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0#3 CMJ CD comp July 1993.
A whose who of mid 90s alt rock. I bought this issue at a makeshift bookstore at Lollapalooza 93. What was CMJ and it has a cool CD. This was the first time I had heard of it (a year latter the Kroger in Danville IN started carrying it and I bought every issue.
This tape fully bridge the gap from hair metal and local AOR radio to 1990s alt rock and punk for me. I was getting into more alternative music thanks to MTV and the third hour of headbangers ball and 120 minutes. But this record (and the events better F/U Angel Dust) threw the doors wide open
03.10.2025 19:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0#2 Faith No More - The Real Thing. (1989).
I vividly remember coming home from school and my buddy Pete calling me and telling me to turn on MTV to see this video. Who was this band??
Why is there a fish flopping. Are they rap or heavy metal??
I really wanted Twisted Sister- Stay Hungry, but only got the I Wanna Rock 45.
There is a pic in a box, in the basement of me opening this record on Xmas morning. I haven't heard this record in years, but Method of Modern love is still a full on jam.
Mine:
Big Bam Boom - Hall and Oates (1984)
I asked for an entire haul of records that year for Xmas. So much so, the Santa that we wrote to in 2nd commented "you must really like music". I got a few, but mostly 45's...
Great show and way fun convo.
03.10.2025 19:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Me too. I was shocked when I saw them last night.

02.10.2025 16:36 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0We were suppose to get a World Premiere from Britany Fox, but instead Def Leppard- Women. I'll Take it.
27.09.2025 01:17 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We must be approaching hour 3
Celtic Frost - Cherry Orchard.
Hope we get more trash and punk type stuff they always shoved in hour 3.
Cinderella- Last Mile
Great video selection on this episode. Cinderella, another band that made three great rock records back to back to back.
Tesla - Heaven's Trail (No Way Out)
Another killer song. First 3 Tesla records are all great rock records
Metallica- One
This video freaked the fuck out of me as a 12 year old. The movie footage is wild.
BBoys back to intro Europe - Let the good times rock....and rock they did because it's not here...we go right into Unchained from Van Halen
27.09.2025 00:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Guns N Roses - Paradise City. Remember living in a time that this song was new. We all were there.
27.09.2025 00:40 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0World Premiere:
Queensryche - Eyes of a Stranger. I dig Mindcrime and Empire a lot.
Fun fact - that one time I randomly met Robert Pollard at a record store in Dayton, Queensryche was playing on the in-store stereo.
Bulletboys back....it's hour 2. So yeah.
