Si adoptée, notre motion orientera les actions des gouvernements et organisations, protégeant la zone mésophotique à une échelle globale. 🌏 #UICN

🌍 Une motion pour la zone mésophotique !

Under The Pole a soumis à l'IUCN une motion visant à :
✅ Renforcer les connaissances scientifiques de la zone mésophotique
✅ Intégrer cette zone dans les politiques et outils de conservation marine pour améliorer sa protection

Les menaces sur la zone mésophotique sont bien réelles :
⚠️ pêche industrielle, dont le chalutage de fond,
⚠️ pollutions,
⚠️ impacts du changement climatique, etc.

Malgré son importance, cette zone reste négligée dans les politiques et outils de conservation.

🪸🐠La zone mésophotique au Congrès Mondial de la Nature ? 🐠🪸

Entre 30 et 200 mètres de profondeur, la zone mésophotique – du grec signifiant « moyenne lumière » – est un espace fascinant, au coeur de nos expéditions et spécifiquement du programme scientifique DEEPLIFE.

A huge congratulations to all those who have been leading this campaign for the past 2 yrs to prevent DSM in the Arctic Ocean. This effort helps avoid potentially irreversible impacts of this new industry on ecosystems, marine biodiversity, fisheries, and the climate @ansroux.bsky.social
