fossil fuel companies happily support the "industry of industries" narrative as petrochemicals represent a huge lifeline for them, usually hidden from public view

The world needs a strong international treaty that cuts plastic pollution off at the source, by reducing production

This is the only way to keep plastic out of our water, and one of the best ways to keep oil and gas in the ground

Plastic production, like many industrial processes, is energy-intensive and polluting

On top of that, the final product is ALSO a pollutant – double the reason to restrict production

Oil & gas companies provide energy AND ingredients for plastic, and want to grow this revenue

Recycling is not the answer plastic pollution – it's like trying to mop up an overflowing bath without turning off the tap

Plastic must be stopped at the source: that means strict limits on production

Of course, oil & gas companies pretend the problem can be solved AFTER they've made their money

The writing is on the wall: the EU will use less and less oil & gas for power, heating, transport as time goes on (needs to be faster, but the trend is down)

With more renewables, insulation, heatpumps, public transport, electric vehicles

Oil & gas companies bank on MORE plastic to keep profits up
