Fun to look at, painterly, and captures shoe-ness in a marvelous way. I can almost smell them, hear how sounds bounce and are dampened by them, the texture to my fingertips the stiff/pliable nature of the materials. Ultrarealism rarely does that.

I'd be all for millions ceasing to be on food stamps, but only if it's for the right reason: they have plenty of income for survival and so just don't need it anymore.
I don't think that's the case here.
Well, that's in the recent past now. What I did was watch tarot card readers on YT, where I can get plenty more truth, humility, accuracy, and trustworthy science and philosophy than I would ever get from the SOTU.

The word "ICE" made of glistening wet ice, resting on a big hot plate with red hot burners glowing. The bottom part of the word is melting, spreading out.
Made an animation. Took six days. It had technical problems. Fussed with lights, ray bounce counts, etc. Now it's looking better, and then I noticed I was using CPU processing. #Blender can use GPUs! Duh. Next full size animation render will be only one day, twice the quality.

These days, the academic research world looks like an iffy place for any career.
Everyone, but especially journalists, needs to be very careful about saying someone is "in the Epstein Files" just because they come up in a text search.

For math and graphics toying around, I usually write code in Odin, Julia, D or sometimes Crystal. I might concentrate more on Julia. It is fast and has powers not found in other languages.

The Amplituhedron is an interesting idea, but is somewhat more in the angels-on-a-pinhead realm than providing practical benefits today or anytime soon.
Maybe in several years we'll invent smaller, more efficient, much cheaper ways to do high energy particle physics.
