Slight change to procedure: checklists will no longer notate how many detections were recorded in the hour, only what device(s) the bird was detected on. Anything of note will still be added to the comments.

I made a linktree for accessing the daily, weekly, and monthly summaries on eBird!

Once I have more summaries completed, I'll probably prune out the dailies and leave the weekly and monthly lists for readability!

Happy New Year!!
An amazing start to 2025. At 2:39 AM the Station got an Eastern Screech #Owl on the Feeder Camera!
This is my first ever sighting of an ESO and I'm beyond ecstatic! I hope it's not from the fireworks.

The new FC got an amazing video of a rain-soaked Brown Thrasher (Toxostoma rufum) this morning!! You can really see why they're called Thrashers π

Originally, I was reporting these remote observations on my primary profile (big no no π)
31.12.2024 17:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0He just got back to me. Here's the reply!
Essentially: if I were able to discern a count whatsoever, then I should. Otherwise, marking them as present is fine. It gives less precise data, but this station gives much more data than can be collected by a single present birder, or even a dozen!
That being said, I am going to check with my eBird Reviewer. He suggested I make the Monitoring account, but if he thinks different and I can make educated guesses, that would make this work a lot easier (but in my opinion, less reliable).
31.12.2024 04:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0but I'd love it more to not give numbers I know for a fact are going to, more-often-than-not, be wildly inaccurate. Maybe I could do the math on the average number of Carolina Wren calls per hour per individual, but I'm just one person and the recording I do already takes so much of my time as is. π
31.12.2024 04:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0listening device detections, in how many individuals are present. With that exceptional degree of uncertainty, counting individuals becomes less of an educated estimate and more of a "eh I like this number today" type situation. I'd love to contribute more to the actual tallies of individuals, (2/3)
31.12.2024 04:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you for the question! You are correct that X gives different data than a number, but that data isn't totally nullified. It still helps with tracking what species are present at what locations at what times of the year. The data I get from the remote station is unreliable, especially the (1/2)
31.12.2024 04:14 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 02014-2016 has 10 total Barred #Owl detections, with these being the duets! They're becoming much more active leading up to breeding season!
