A white semi circle over a dark purple background contains the text '40 daily deliveries of spiritual nourishment through Lent'. Next to the title is the Soul Food logo, which uses a white semi circle to resemble a bowl and three white heart shapes coming from the bowl.
We are excited to share our theme for Lent 2025, 'Soul Food'
In the wilderness, Jesus reminded us that people don’t live by bread alone. Each week during Lent 2025, we’ll reflect on what sustains us, based on the lectionary Gospel passage for Sunday.

Image of John Wesley, with the text ‘What is the Methodist Covenant Service’
Image with artistic rainbow and dove. The text reads: “What is the Covenant Service? The covenant service, often celebrated on the first Sunday of the year, is at the heart of Methodist’s devotion and discipleship, and our dedication in working for social justice. In the service the Church joyfully celebrates God’s gracious offer that he loves us unconditionally, no strings attached.”
Text in top left: “The Covenant is the means of grace by which we accept the relationship and then seek to sustain it - not acquiring a relationship with God but living in it.” Text in bottom right: “The Covenant is not a contract in which God and human beings agree to provide particular goods and services for each other.”
Image with text: “Where did it begin? The Covenant was key to John Wesley’s understanding of discipleship as a Christian. He believed that we need to not only accept a relationship with God but also to grow in that relationship. He saw a need for a regular opportunity for people to open themselves to God more fully. He looked for a way to help them to hear God’s offer and challenge ever more deeply, and to allow God to prompt and enable them to respond.”
This Sunday (5th Jan) we hold our Covenant Service. This is a special service in the life of the Methodist Church, where we celebrate God’s gracious offer that He lives us unconditionally. The service is open to everyone.
At 10:30am. St Paul’s is on the corner of Queen’s Road & Bath Street (1/2)
Image with text: “What happens in the service? Wesley’s original Covenant Services were set in a framework of pastoral care, preaching and guidance that would continue through ongoing support for individuals and groups, as they were adapted from the Puritan tradition of pastoral and spiritual guidance. Today, the service follows a set structure based on these original services including prayers, scripture, hymns, Communion, and the reading of the Covenant which the congregation say aloud together. All are welcome to these services - for the first time, the first time in a long time, or simply to watch what others do without taking part.”
Image with text: “God’s gracious offer to us is also a challenge. Are we prepared to commit ourselves in return to God and how can we manage to live out our commitment adequately, frail and human as we are?”
