๐ Happy Flux Capacitor Day! On this day in Back to the Future film history (5th November 1955), Doc Emmett Brown had the idea for the Flux Capacitor.
The UK will be marking this day with fireworks across the land this evening*.

* oh, and bonfire night.
Cheeky Haggis tonight. If you havenโt had a haggis in a while, a cold, wet, windy November night is a good excuse. Tasty.
03.11.2025 19:36 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Just preparing to lobby Charles. He studied here. One hopes he would look favourably on an application for city status. Just donโt mention the eggy greeting some gave to his mother.

It was tastier than the Mr Fusion device at the end of the film.

Great Scott! The restored 40th anniversary print of Back to the Future is an absolute treat. Watched it tonight at Commodore Cinema. The film moves at pace. I donโt think there is a wasted scene. Great script, excellent performances from the cast and the music pops. Seek this out at the cinema. ๐ฟ๐ฅ๐๏ธ

Image showing some features of Antarctica. The penguins drawn in the image are bigger than the highest mountain.
There are several in Antarctica around the 1,100 to 1,500m range, and other larger ones too. Dig out you digital map and head for a browse.
If this image is anything to go byโฆ the Penguins are even bigger. Yikes. ๐ (image from www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/art...). 2/2
TIL that there are many more mountains in Antarctica than I had ever thought about. The largest is Mount Vinson, about 4,892m high; for comparison, Snowden is 1,085m, Ben Nevis is about 1,300m and Everest is about 8,800m. Mount Vinson is 8th highest in the world. 1/2

I think there was a knitted bee or ladybird in each room. I think it was there as an activity for children to find all of the creatures.
Fun day out at this @nationaltrust.org.uk property. Pleased to report that the scones were also delicious.

Picture of fountain with mansion in background.
We picked apples from the orchard - lots of different varieties. The one we gave tried so far is delicious. Also, the walled garden has a new garden area next to it, which has a water fountain.

View of mansion from the lakeside.
Courtyard behind the mansion included a wall with window shapes, allowing a view of the sweeping landscape. Large estate, so we walked around lake and saw swans and a heron.

Standing on stairs in hall, looking down to the doors entering the hall.
Looking from the floor, up past the stairs, to see the dome and blue sky.
Two figures showing costume designs of the day. One figure is holding a knitted bee.
Wonderful staircase in centre, with some above to flood the hall with light. Chance to see costumes from the period.
