I studied the ecology of disturbances in grad school. After a disturbance, systems are reset and they become highly productive. The American ecosystem is in the ascent days of a resetting disturbance. There will better days.

Insurance is simply the wrong financial instrument for health care. It works for other kinds of things because they are stochastic and insurance invests and determines rates based on actuarial probabilities. Health care is NOT stochastic for most things.
