What we do have currently (NCA/SFO) are seriously underpowered and ineffective. The SFO in particular keep embarrassing themselves.

Look, if billionaires take themselves out with their own idiocy, fine.
But all that supposed money evaporates, and we get a fucking recession.

Would have been better if they just shut the hell up and paid taxes.

It's a very widespread apocryphal thing, quite understandable that you would, but Boss were still truly awful - worse, really. Just designing them isn't as bad as manufacturing them and using slave labour!

Boss didn't design the Nazi uniforms. They did, however, manufacture them, and used slave labour.

And now I discover that episodes were FIFTY minutes longβ€½β€½β€½β€½β€½

I was expecting them to be 10 mins max!

This full episode has ANOTHER style of theme tune - psychedelic funk this time - and some really trippy landscapes in the intro!

I love the fact that RTÉ was doing some wild chromakey* shit so early for such homely kids TV!

*AKA green screen.

Seriously, this stuff is amazing.
In this version of the opening credits, The Wanderly Wagon approaches a dolmen, while a super laid back version of the theme plays.

You KNOW shit is about to go down, and boy, does it deliver!

Alright, I think that's _quite_ enough darkness for now.

I was just discussing this with an Irish friend of a similar age - he got none of the references. But he did turn me on to this absolute fucking masterpiece. Sadly it's not the whole episode.

You could argue that this is kind of true if a mayor became PM/Pres, but I do think there are big differences still (not really being a legislator being the biggest)

It's not so much that I think Burnham shouldn't be allowed to quit, that I don't think he should politically. Seems like a poor idea.

26.01.2026 09:33 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I dunno - Mayoralties are hyper-tied to a location in a way that MPs and senators aren't, as their time is split between their constituency and the house for the purpose of legistlating. Becoming PM/Pres doesn't change that so much, it's just that your constituency gets a lot bigger.
