Today is also the 80th Anniversary of the resumption of public weather forecasts in the UK. Although weather forecasts were available to military personel they were not broadcast to the public for fear of assisting the enemy. @metoffice.bsky.social @weatherhistory.bsky.social @bbcentury.bsky.social

Longford: A Village in Limbo
If Heathrow Airport achieves its expansion plans, the village of Longford and all its historic buildings would be demolished.
This village has a fascinating past. Read about the national and international events that this village witnessed. This village was a haven for non-conformists and a refuge for highwaymen. History might be the study of the past, but events pervade the present and remain captured forever in the ambiance and fabric of a village.
Longford is on the edge of one of the worlds busiest airports. It is threatened with demolition if Heathrow Airport expands.
This book describes the fascinating history and events that this village witnessed. Kings, Queens, rogues and paupers passed through this village. www.wendytibbitts.info
