11.12.2025 17:58 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Reserving my reaction to ABQJournal.com’s new web design, launched today, because it’s new and I’m not used to it.
But today’s e-edition (which is what I read) is screwed up so I’m restive. Fix it damn yer eyes.
Emphasis on “streaming” versus permanent possession of media is a whole other topic.
Yet I freely admit I subscribe to a streaming music service and have it on frequently, daily. I have mixed feelings about this.
I appreciate the internet’s capability for supporting reading, searching for information, watching or listening to presentations of art and meaning.
But that’s the very thing developers keep screwing up because that isn’t what’s important to them.
TL;dr? Too bad. Practice reading.
5/5
(I’m cheating, perhaps, in regarding the “reading” of photography and videography as a mode of narrative counted as a use of language. But I think it counts.)
4/5
Digital-only news sites, hit or miss. Some manage to facilitate reading, others are crap.
Concern: Emphasis on idea that internet media is for delivering “content” (a phantasm) and not language — written or spoken.

Another: Ad pops up. Clear it, then a video pops up. Now I’m angry.
Observation: Broadcasters online seem to deliver news articles online better than long-running national newspapers. I can read them and choose how to interact with videos. The ads are less intrusive and not a bother.
2/5
Trying to read newspaper articles on a given topic online and continually running into obstacles.
I no longer subscribe to the Times or the Post, so I’m now completely blocked: No meter reset.
Another paper: Article not loading properly, text not available.

Hey, Axios headline writer: The Nobel committee didn’t “snub” Trump any more than it snubbed me. Why are you playing into a false and disingenuous narrative?
Also, ditch the superfluous subheads. Story reads fine without them.
