At our recent Town Hall meeting it was agreed that we will work with Cllr David Worsfold and his team to encourage more residents to recycle as currently we don't seem to be very good at it. Further details will follow.

Potholes and pavements
I'm sure this is UK wide but specifically in Brentwood Borough - when you spot a problem please take photos and log them as normal with Essex BUT in addition email your ward councillors .
It seems that your ward councillors may keep a priority list. Get your issues on it.
Accessibility across the Brentwood UK borough
We continue to highlight the distress caused by inconsiderate parking on the pavement.
Please ensure - if you block part of the pavement - that prams, wheelchair users, mobility scooter users and those with assistance dogs can pass easily and safely.
Accessibility
As the weather cools down we will be socialising more indoors.
Please ensure all steps and slopes have something to hold onto when going up and down.
Could be rails, dado rail, window sill.
Thx
Diabetic difficulties
For many diabetics our bodies no longer process carbs and sugars well.
Going out with friends for a quick coffee and a chat can be difficult.
If you're a cafe owner please include some goodies with low carbs and low sugars.
Thanks
Captioning in zoom
Just received notification the Zoom is rolling out the availability of captions in all meetings.
Apparently a CC button will appear and you can just click it to get automatic captions
This should help those with hearing difficulties.
Sunflower lanyards
Sunflower lanyards, which discreetly indicate a hidden disability, can be obtained for free at various locations including supermarkets, airports, and some universities.
Having trouble hearing what people are saying?
The Royal National Institute for Deaf people provide a link to practice lip reading that might help.

Too often, these rights are still not being upheld. #MyInfoMyWayβ. Black on white graphic with pink hashtag.
NHS England has just published the updated Accessible Information Standard, which makes clear how NHS and social care services in England must provide information to blind and partially sighted people in a way they can read.
It's a step forward - here's what's improved:

15.07.2025 09:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Come and join us at our next meeting on 24th July at 6.30 at the Council Offices either in person or via Teams.
Park in the main car park and enter by the first green door, if this is locked please ring the Chairman Jim Hoare on 07974 545200 and someone will come down and let you in.
Pavement parking..
...causes danger and obstruction so please avoid it.
Did you know that any yellow lines also apply to the pavement and verge?
So true. We never send a "Get Better" card - we send a "Thinking of You" card

"Please treat us like you treat anyone else. We donβt want special treatment or to be spoken to like weβre children, please donβt touch us without asking, and remember that we still have the same thoughts, feelings, desires, likes and dislikes, as everyone else"
That is just wrong on every level. The person that asked should be sacked immediately

We hadn't had anyone contact us with these problems before.
As a result I've promised myself not to use moving GIFs any more.
Changing places facilities in Brentwood UK high street.
To protect the expensive equipment in the high street facilities they are opened by a special rather than a Radar key.
Just follow the link below to request a key.

Picture shows a car parked partially on the pavement, a telegraph pole and the weekly refuse bags that combine to make the pavement blocked
Please be considerate.
Here we have pavement parking combined with refuse day.
Why should those using prams and those with mobility issues have to walk out into the traffic.
This picture is in Brentwood UK.
Our next meeting is Thursday 1st May 2025 @ 6.30pm in the
Brentwood (UK) Town Hall
Enter by the green door on the far right of the building.
If the door is locked when you arrive call Jim on 07974 545200 and someone will let you in.
Everyone welcome.
I can't attend your protest but we in Brentwood UK want clean air and don't want outside officials interfering with that.

Someone has just suggested another idea
Offer your arm to help them walk safely
Do you know someone with balance issues? If so here's how you can help them.
Have seating available
Provide good lighting
Ensure non slippery and even surfaces
Maintain clear areas
Meet in uncrowded venues
Be wary of wind
Check for easy climb / descend access
Avoid crossing busy roads

One of our members has reported to us today that the lift in your store in Brentwood UK has been out of action for at least a year
You are all preventing those with a disability and those with prams from accessing your store.
Please advise when it will be available.
