Laminated sign on a laptop that says "How accessible is the thing youโre working on? Learn how to check and get it right from the start in future. Accessibility: A range of techniques, for giving all kinds of people, equivalent experiences and opportunities, despite limitations in their capabilities.
I've made a laminated sign for the back of my work laptop, to be visible to people on the desks opposite me.

How I could have earned a crust and milked the commuters - James Buller
Itโs evening in the 1990s. Iโve just stepped off the train at Guildford, back from yet another long day at the London office. Iโm tired, smelly, achy and hungry โ just want to get home and relax in fr...
2nd blog post: My pre-millennium business idea to ensure those returning home from work had breakfast tomorrow morning.
This has been rattling around my head for 25 years.
It's time to put it out there and think about what could have been.
What's the wistful business that you never made happen?

The Last Post for the Nightline Association. How does that make you feel? - James Buller
My goodbye to Nightline, the organisation that shaped and consumed a large part of my life, making me who I am today.
As it's my first, my blog article's title is ironic.
Yet it has stirred me to start writing again.
This is my heartfelt goodbye to Nightline, the organisation that shaped and consumed a huge part of my life, making me who I am today.

Accessibility job descriptions should have an honest indication of how much of the role is being an audit machine and how much is the actual interesting stuff.
Big difference between using an audit as a consultation tool and doing constant audits with occasional โfunโ stuff as a treat.

1. Thats a everyday benefit/rare risk balance.
2. Curious why you think up is on the right?
Interesting point about effect of approach direction. The best angles and lengths to answer your concerns would need to be found. They may well be context dependent but I'd hope for some heuristics.

True but still not effective and they get rubbed off or at least look very grubby. Something additional is needed.

Yes is up. The nudge has worked on you.
It could be combined with up down arrows on the step risers as is sometimes done.

Large stairwell as in a train station with a central handrail. At the bottom, the handrail angles to one side making one side of the stairs wider than the other.
Idea: To encourage people to go up and down the correct side of stairs, add an angle to the central handrail.
Has this been done anywhere?
Was it effective (combined with other techniques)?
If not why not?

It is inclusive of times when a person with an impairment is not disabled by it.
An important exception to acknowledge is something like chronic pain.

Accessibility extends far beyond the disabled experience. All aspects of life should be accessible for every individual. We should all be fighting for these rights, regardless of disability status

Screen shot of "Accessibility Settings" with two main categories: "Alt text" and "Media." Under Alt text, there are two toggle options labelled "Require alt text before posting," which is switched on. โDisplay larger alt text badges" Under Media, thereโs an option labelled "Disable autoplay for videos and GIFs," which is switched on.
New to @bsky.app? Weโve got some etiquette just for you!
Turn on the little feature that reminds you to post alt text with your images. Alt text allows blind and partially sighted people to understand what's in your images using screen readers. Without alt text, it just says "image".
